Is this appropriate to play with a 4.5 year old?

This game is tailored more to children who are from 6 to 10 years of age. I'm sure a 4.5 year hold would enjoy looking at the cards but the actual game play might be a challenge for them.

Do you discard after every turn even if you play an action card?

Yeah, because you can't end a turn by discarding an action card. They're discarded (to the DISCARD pile, not the hoard pile) as soon as you get one. The rulebook says: "ENDING YOUR TURN - Discard ONE card from your hand face down into the ‘Hoard Pile.’ It is now the next player’s turn. You do not have to discard IF you have no cards left in your hand."

Can you combine more than one deck to have more people play?

Yes. Remember to remove the extra winter card if you want longer games.

what happens with the hoard action card when no cards are in the discard pile?

Even if there is no hoard card it’s a race for where the ‘hoard pile’ would be. First one to slap the spot takes their turn

Easy to learn, easy to play, super giftable.

I love this game. The goal is simple. The gameplay? simple. But it's still fun. Kind of like old maid in some aspects, and I like that you can add more or fewer rounds to make the game last only as long as you have, or longer if you want.

The best game I have ever had

This game is a lot a lot a lot of fun. I think you will enjoy more than what you expect from a few cards. It is about skill and a little bit luck. I played it twice, first when I learned it and then immediately I bought mine online and then yesterday after I got it I played with friends who had not known it before. We played for around 3-4 hours until midnight.Everyone enjoyed it and we decided to do it regularly each weekend. I think have not enjoyed any game more than this one.

Fun family game

This is a fun game for young and old. You collect acorn cards to get points, there are other cards which allow you to take a card from another player or have a war, watch for the hoard card, the first to slap the cards gets the whole pile. I shared this game with my game groups and it was a hit. Fun for kids and adults, easy to learn, I had to buy another set because we have played it so much.

I needed a game to put in a Family Fun Night theme raffle basket and found this one. Looked like fun so I bought two. We love playing S'Quarrels!

Not as much fun as I thought it would be...

My son and I can't really understand what the hype is all about with this card game. It wasn't really fun at all, it felt confusing and like work! Ha. Anyway, I wouldn't repurchase this game and the cards will probably be passed along to a friend to try with her kiddos.
