Top Secret/Majic: Operation Majestic-12 and the United States Government's UFO Cover-up

BEWARE; Stanton T. Friedman just might make you a beliver.
I do a lot of reading and research for writing projects but also out of my curiosity and need to better understand the world we have inherited and the often contradictory news stories and "realities" that are offered up for public consumption.I like to keep an open mind but not so open that my brains fall out. I'm not an easy sell and as such have steered away from the UFO issue for a number of years. My take on the subject of UFO's is (or was) that it has been relegated to something to be easily dismissed as the rants of delusional people who have a need to be relevant; that it is laughable and frowned upon, not discussed in mixed company for it might question ones religious views or paradigm of "what [they think]they know to be the truth!" In essence the subject is a "trip down a rabbit hole where no one ever wins."Having made that clear; I could not help but be intrigued by the possibility that sometime during summer/fall of 1947, something dramatically changed the mindset of the 'powers-to-be' that controlled the U.S. government; something other than and in addition to the communist threat from mother Russia.I have a lot of respect for the years of dedicated research that Mr. Friedman has sacrificed to get closer to the truth. He is not an armchair academic; he did the footwork, he went to numerous public and private archives to dig up the source materials and evidence for his research. He interviews witnesses when possible and then uses his analytical scientific mind, a mind honed by years as a nuclear physicist in research and development of nuclear propulsion technology to present his conclusions in a no-nonsense and step-by-step format that speaks of one who has found the truth. If like me you were or still are on the fence about the possibility that our government - from President Truman on down, has known a lot more about this subject than they would like the taxpaying public to know. That there is a high probability that sometime in 1947, in the interest of national security, a select team comprised half civilian and half military, with each individual uniquely qualified by their experience and expertise; that this team known as "Majestic 12" was established to cope with an unknown ['ET'?] agency which was causing havoc in U.S. airspace. And due to their very presence and our inability to do anything about it or them [primarily due to a vast technological gap in flight capability]; that this was seen as a national security issue of the highest priority. This story or 'history' is so much more convoluted than just the threat of small statured aliens (from god knows where?) making a mockery of our state-of-the-art fighter/interceptors (then and now). This is also about how our government deals with the 'known' and 'the unknown'; how they needed to keep any advanced technologies away from foreign governments at all costs, how they deal with and dismiss those who come too close to the truth. Most of all how a disinformation campaign has been waged almost from the very beginning, especially after the awkward misstep at Roswell and the back-peddling and back-story that ensued almost immediately. Finally the most compelling take-away [if you will] is how Mr. Friedman proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that "Disclosure" from our government is in no ones best interest but especially theirs as far as they are concerned, so don't hold your breath waiting for the big reveal.Am I a believer? I am now.

Impressively thorough
I can't think of many things as interesting as a secret organization created by a US president to study UFO wreckage. I wanted to see detailed arguments for and against the authenticity of the MJ-12 documents, and this book has that. The analysis of these documents covers their physical attributes as well as their content, so it's comprehensive. For example, a lot of research is included on Dr. Menzel , a man whose alleged membership in MJ-12 seems controversial until you dig deeper (which Stanton Friedman has done), and significant research is also included on how military memos and documents at the time were formatted, signed, dated, stamped, and otherwise created in practice as well as in theory according to military procedures. The idea of a government cover-up is not that much of a stretch for me, on this topic or any other topic. So, personally I'm comfortable judging the authenticity of the MJ-12 documents without an initial bias and using the "preponderance of evidence" as the standard. Based on that approach, and the analysis in this book, I agree with Stanton Friedman that the MJ-12 documents are probably authentic. If you have an initial bias against these ideas for some reason, and if you need more than just the preponderance of evidence to change your mind, well - you won't find any DNA evidence linking these documents to Truman, and you won't find a notarized signed confession, and the evidence presented in this book will probably not resonate with you. One practical matter to consider is that this book is so thorough and "modular" in its organization that it really could be considered a reference book. I read it sequentially, but in hindsight that wasn't necessary.

Great book, and 100% convincing!
Wow, what a great book. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in this subject. The MJ-12 documents suggest a possible truth about UFO's that is mind blowing to contemplate.Stanton Friedman has got to have an IQ near genius or above. He explains the documents, his investigative research, and the implications of all this in a way very easy to understand. And he is absolutely rigorous in his research methods. The reasons he comes to the conclusions he does could be put under the strictest scrutiny and still hold water completely.I wish all of this could be argued in court, with Friedman as the "prosecuting" lawyer. The other side wouldn't stand a chance! This is the first book of his I have ever read, but I will likely buy more now...:)

And these men did a very good job of keeping the public in the dark about ...
This book took a lot of research to verify to the extent that the Majestic- 12 was a group of very credible men .And these men did a very good job of keeping the public in the dark about the UFOs and the alien encounters.

Very good investigative work
Friedman is being missed. That guy took his job seriously, and when looking for clear answers regarding UFOs, nothing like a scientific approach and the good old logic to do the job best. The way he presents his evidence is very captivating, and the reader is kept fucused until the end of the chapter. I wish Friedman had made a documentary about this book showing all his investigations the way he presents them in these pages. Would have been magnificent.

Top Secret/Majic - Operation Majestic-12
If the contents of this book (TOP SECRET/MAJIC: OPERATION MAJESTIC-12) are true then the IDIOTS responsible for an apparent UFO cover up should be publicily named, shamed, locked up and the key thrown away! It's possible centuries from now the human race may look back and shake their heads laughing in disbelief at the arrogant 'Clowns' who once ran the 20th and 21st century.... The book is good reading for those with a keen interest in the subject and even a possible eye opener for 'die-hard comfort zone skeptics' who still believe the moon's made of green cheese!!!!
