Emi's Curly Coily, Cotton Candy Hair

Relatable for little girls. Wonderfully written and illustrated.
Santa brought it for my 9 year old along with other similar books to help her learn to love her curly hair. She could relate to the little things throughout the book and it made her laugh. She especially loved seeing the washing routine was the same as hers with pictures of comb, conditioner, spray bottle etc. And the satin bonnet while sleeping. So relatable and wonderfully written and illustrated. She has really been struggling to love her hair but these books have helped her understand a little more of how to embrace what she has been blessed with.

... daughter went through a phase where she started to hate her curly hair
My 3 1/2 year old daughter went through a phase where she started to hate her curly hair. She started to ask me for straight hair. She told me she didn't like her hair anymore. Distraught, I went straight to Amazon to find books about having curly hair and came across this book. I thought it was perfect because the little girl in the book had brown skin like my daughter, and had a beautiful cloud of dark curls just like my daughter. When we got the book, I read it to my little girl, and she was fascinated by all the things that Emi's hair could do. This book is now among my daughter's favorites and she hasn't asked me for straight hair again--she tells me she wants curly hair now. This book was everything I'd hoped for.

Definitely worth having in your set of reading essentials
Totally love this story and although it is likely tailored to a specific audience ... I think it’s is useful for all children. The images in the book remind me of my daughter, we change the characters name to match hers and our younger daughters love hearing about their older sister washing her hair. Beautiful images and I hope he author and artist do more like this.

My kid loves the 1,2,3 RINSE parts
Me and my daughter love this book. It has helped her understand the whole hair day process. Nothing negative about hair washing or ouches... the little girl is smiling the entire time and I make sure to point it out everytime we read the book. It was nice to find a book with the exact same hair day routine as us!!! The whole time shes like "mommy does that too" or "yea, like me". Her favorite is the " 1,2,3 RINSE" part which is shocking because shes terrified of water getting in her eyes. She also started calling her puffs cotton candy land just like the character. Overall good influential book.

If you are like me and have a child with curly hair and no such curls on your own head this is a must buy book!
This book was amazing and very educational! If I could give it 6 stars I would. The book describes curly hair in a very positive way and teaches you how to care for it. If you are like me and have a child with curly hair and no such curls on your own head this is a must buy book! Why is there not a hard cover? Why is this the only book by the author? I want more!!!

Very cute and informative
Very cute and informative book. Just what I was looking for! And my daughter loves it! I am a white mom and my 4 children are mixed. My 7yo daughter has very curly ethnic hair, and no matter how much I try to inform her about her hair, and really instill in her how much time and effort it takes to properly care for hair like hers, she doesn't get it because children learn by example. I do my best even though I have Irish white girl hair, and this book really helped me with what I am trying to accomplish!

Adorable book with a couple minor problems
This book is super cute. I'm a future teacher, and I bought it to both use in a project for one of my college classes as well as to have in my future classroom. The illustrations are absolutely stunning. The character design is perfect, and every page is fun and colorful. It's deserving of 5 stars in every way except for one. There are some annoying grammatical errors throughout the book in the form of missing commas. Almost every page is missing a comma somewhere. It worries me, because I want the books in my classroom to be good examples to help my students understand proper grammar, but at the same time, this book is such a wonderful example of diverse literature, and it would be a shame to keep it out of my classroom because of a few missing commas. Every child deserves to see their relection in their education, and I think this book will be an excellent read for my future students.

As a little girls we form opinions early on about our hair and sometimes their negative ones. This book was absolutely a joy to read. It not only boosted my confidence but made my niece smile and giggle while we read the book together. I know it made a huge difference in how she sees herself.
