A Certified Spinning Instructor's Opinion...Poor
If you know what you're doing and know what to look for, then you can reasonably conclude the ride on this DVD is a bit of a mess. The Spinning Programme is basically heart rate training using cadence and resistance on an indoor (Spinning) bike. There are 5 different energy zones in Spinning: Interval, Endurance, Strength, Recovery and Race Day. Having completed the ride on this DVD, I'm really not sure which energy zone it is. The ride is basically a progressive hill spent mostly in the saddle, gradually adding resistance and reducing cadence. It's not a bad ride or a horrible workout, it's just not readily identifiable as a core part of Spinning. If, like me, you've quit going to the gym because their so-called 'indoor cycling instructors' simply don't know what they're doing, it's disappointing to buy an official Spinning DVD and then NOT get a definitive energy zone ride. Oh well.It gets worse.Josh Taylor is a Master Spinning Instructor and I absolutely respect what it takes to train and dedicate yourself to achieve that status. However, people looking for correct instruction on this DVD will be let down. Firstly, Josh takes BOTH his hands off the handle bars several times which is inherently dangerous, especially for beginners. This is especially true at the end after the ride. He instructs the class to sit upright, take both hands off the handle bars, close the eyes and breathe deeply. For someone new to Spinning trying that after a hard ride is just asking to fall off the bike and break your ankles in the process. Strike #1! The very best Spinning instructors are great at visualization. We all know we're on a stationary bike, but to have someone help you feel you're out on the open road is a rare talent. Josh, on this showing at least, doesn't have it. I really didn't get all his clock face and numbers nonsense. Strike #2! The final strike is something I could not believe I saw on an official Spinning DVD. Josh instructing his class to stretch ON THE BIKE! That is a HUGE no-no again for safety reasons. I was taught by a Master Spinning Instructor (hi Raquel) and I lost count of the number of times she lectured us about not doing this. It's in the Spinning Instructor Manual too. What was Josh thinking?Overall, this DVD could have been a whole lot better. Apart from the things I've already mentioned, the warm down was way too brief, no attention was given to correct form, scant attention to breathing and correct hand position and no help or guidance for people NOT using a Spinning Computer. I do train with a heart rate monitor and a Spinning Computer, but Josh SHOULD have explained perceived exertion and how to check your own cadence. Tut-tut! The DVD extras are OK. There are chapters on bike setup and safety, the Spinner bike, how to use a heart rate monitor and even a short piece about becoming a Certified Spinning Instructor. This is the second Spinning DVD I've used. The other one, Ride On - Endurance Energy Zone, is much better. I'll write a review of that when I get a chance. Hope this all helps.

Super Sweaty Workout
This is an excellent workout..and the instructor is the best I have had...I have been in the GYM spinning classes and this is way more intense a much better workout...yes they use the spinning computer but you don't need it, I have all of the spinning workouts and have been using them for over a year with no spinning computer, I just follow the pace of the instructor, but I would strongly suggest you purchase a heart rate monitor...and I would suggest this for anyone who exercises. If you love spinning then don't even waste your time on any other videos I have purchased them all and these are the ones I bought last because there were no reviews and I so wish I wouldn't have wasted my time or money on the others...This is by far the BEST!!!

Awesome Workout
I really enjoyed this spin workout. I am a former spin instructor myself and now enjoy spinning in the comfort of my own home. Although I have my own programs that I ride to, I enjoy putting in a video every now and again to change the pace. I love Josh Taylor. He is a wonderful instructor- very motivating and inspirational. This was a nice change of pace workout which simulated a real road ride. Starting with a good warm up on a seated flat, gradually increasing resistance over time, going into a seated climb and ending in a standing climb. If I had to change anything, I think I would have extended the standing climb. Otherwise, an excellent video. It was good solid 50 minute workout.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY
COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY...DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WANT TO SIMULATE A SPINNING CLASS. IT IS BORING, THE MUSIC IS HORRIBLE, AND MOST GYM BIKE RIDERS DO THIS STEADY STATE WITHOUT A VIDEO. I WANTED A RIDE WITH VARYING PACES AND ENERGY, AND HAVING A MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN EXERCISE SCIENCES, MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION IS THAT YOUR OVERALL FITNESS LEVEL IS NOT GOING TO IMPROVE ALOT AND IT WILL BE A SLOW RATE OF FAT LOSS. WHO WANTS TO RIDE TO THIS VIDEO? NOT ME. $16 WAS ALOT TO PAY FOR A VIDEO I WAS TOO BORED TO COMPLETE! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MADD DOG SPINNING VIDEO!!!! I AM STORMY THAT I WASTED MY MONEY.

Josh Taylor spinning workouts are awesome. I own all of them
Josh Taylor spinning workouts are awesome. I own all of them, look forward to doing one every Sunday. It's great training for bike season (which is only spring/summer/fall here in the north). Once the weather gets bad, I fall back on spinning to keep my conditioning. These workouts keep me bike-ready.

Another great DVD from Josh Taylor
I love this DVD! The first spinning DVD by Josh Taylor that I bought was the Heart Racer DVD. That is, by far, my favorite DVD for spinning. I'm happy to add this latest one to my growing collection. I will continue to be on the lookout for addition DVDs by Josh Taylor to spice up my exercise routine.

Excellent workout!
I chose this DVD at random, just looking for a different spinning experience. I liked the instructor and his presentation so much that I promptly bought a second DVD from the same company. The tone of the instruction is inspirational and the instructor warmly shares his passion for spinning. I highly recommend Josh Taylor's take on spinning.

Great workout!
This is a great video! I followed it for the first time last night and it was like going to spin class. It is a full vigorous work out and takes you all the way to cool down and stretching after the ride. I enjoyed the host's commentary and found it easy to follow and quite motivating. It's s great work out at home and is priced well! I am happy with my purchase.
