Advantage II Large Dog Topical Flea Treatment & Prevention, 4ct

I know there are A-LOT of bad reviews for these but my belief is that people are using the product wrong, possibly issuing wrong doses or ordering the wrong product size. Bayer is a local, well known, trusted company in my area and I can tell you that they do not manufacture products that would kill your animals or harm them. This is a local, USA company. I have had family members that have worked for them their entire lives. Now on to the product. It works very well. We were using Frontline but it did not work. AT ALL. Our dog was getting ticks, our cats and dog had fleas. We used Frontline religiously and it just didn't perform. We ended up with a really bad flea infestation in our home and we needed to take action as multiple flea baths and house treatment were not helping. We finally switched to advantage II. Weary about the reviews we applied it to our animals in the proper dosage, size, and areas. Read, read and re-read the instructions. There are specific ways to apply this for specific animals. There are also specific sizes that you purchase depending on the type and weight of your animal. YOU NEED TO READ! Within two weeks after we treated our house with products known as permethrin and I.G. regulators as well as using Bayer Advantage II we completely got rid of our flea problem. Its now been months since we have had the problem and we haven't found a single flea on our animals. This stuff just hands down works. I would recommend to anybody and I'm going to keep purchasing it because I never want to have fleas in my home again. Its well worth the price. UPDATE: Its now been 5 years since my original review and we still use this. We have not had a single flea issue since my original review. Our animals are safe and healthy. Be aware that there are counterfeits on Amazon. There are articles on the internet of what to check for. If you are concerned, purchase it from your vet or Chewy.

I have a shepherd /collie who looks a lot like the one pictured on the box and by no accident. As you can imagine, shepherds have two layers of hair, and the bottom one is a thick layer of very fine hair, which keeps them warm in their native northern climates. We've battled the flea problem and have tried for two years using "natural methods" such as sprinkling baking soda on the carpets, various other natural powders that are sold in pet stores, dog collars, and even an amber collar, and nothing ever worked. After just one Advantage II treatment vile, in about 8 hours, the fleas were gone. It has now been 7 weeks since October 1st, when I applied it, and there's been no sign of fleas since. I trust the name Bayer, since they've been around all my life, which is why I finally decided to try using their product. Living in the northern USA, we've now experienced some very cold freezing weather, and I'd imagine that the flea season is over until next spring, so one application was enough to do the trick this year. Myself and the dog are both happy with the results. "Simon" has had no ill effects by the use of this product and in fact was very relieved to get rid of the fleas. If he could talk, which it almost seems as though he can at times, he would have said 'It is about time you gave me something that worked Dad" I highly recommend it, especially for pets with thick coats. .

I AM NOT PLEASED WITH ADVANTAGE. I SHOULD HAVE STUCK WITH MY REGULAR ONE.

The large dog is 22-55 lbs- I'd say a large dog is over 55. So I used 2 packets on my over 100 lb dog, and it worked fine. Got rid of his hot spots!

We have 3 dogs and 5 cats and this eradicated all fleas

Works well but my dog smells absolutely awful for a few days after application. I don’t know if he has a reaction to it or what but the smell is enough to make me change to something else.

Advantage is the only flea product I will buy. It is the best for the price. As long as I apply it as directed, my pet stays free of fleas. It will even last longer than advertised, but as a good measure follow directions. Frontline will not prevent or relieve flea infestations. Last year it took using Advantage to get rid of a quick outbreak in my apartment. It'll take 48-72 hours to kill live fleas, but it'll take a few weeks to kill all the fleas hatched from carpet eggs. So for fast action on an infestation, pair with another product that treats carpets.
