Hayward DE2420 ProGrid D.E. Pool Filter, 24 Square Foot, Vertical Grid

I should never have waited as long as I did to replace my old pool filter. This cleans my 34x16 pool 2.5 times per day. I love the DE and the backwash capability of this filter. Every six weeks I can clean it simply with the Hayward SP0715XR50 Pro Series Vari-Flo Control attachment and this product works great. I am pleased with this product and overall service from Amazon.

This filter ROCKS!!! I’ve had it a couple months now and have been through several rain storms and the filter kept everything crystal clear. I did get a little algae built up on the wall but a little shock nd it was gone! I haven’t cleaned it since I’ve installed it whereas the last filter I had I needed to clean the filter after a couple rains. Granted this filter is a bit bigger than my last but it is significantly much more effective keeping my water clear. As for installation I did it myself. I got a quote from my local pool store for over $2000 installed and it was a smaller filter of lesser quality. So I got this filter as well as the recommended multi port valve (face it if you’re going to spend $1200 on a filter ya might as well go another $150 and get a new valve). In order to get it installed positioned like my last filter I would have had to do some PVC plumbing and so I decided to install it positioned in an inverted position. I’ll probably go ahead and flip it when I have more time but installation on this thing was a piece of cake.

Good strong quality filter, retention spring/band is high quality and heavy gauge. Works well, my only 2 concerns were the valve to backwash did not come with this item, had to purchase it separately $60-$90 dollars more. This filter is unable to be used without this valve so I had no other choice. I haven't any idea why it would arrive without the necessary parts to install. Other flaw is there isn't a socket/tool with the filter to open/tighten the middle retention band. The housing sticks out past the bolt so it makes it difficult to use an adjustable crescent wrench when opening the filter to clean it. Excellent unit. Hooked up fairly quickly. Replaced by Titan American products unit which was over 25 years old. 36 Sq ft. with this 60 sq ft. Bought the multiport valve from hayward as well. Only question I have is whether the recommended lbs of DE is 7.5lbs. This is almost the same amount I had for my previous 36 sq ft. Titan, 7lbs. All new fittings. 3 slips to remove unit in winter. I do this every year to help protect filter and motor from elements. Used gorilla glue for all fittings. Solid connections. Very happy. I'll post any updates in the future.

When our original pool filter stopped working we replaced it with the same model as the original. there was a bit of confusion because the picture shows a higher-profile cap. I called Hayward, and they too had trouble telling me what the height of the cap was. Turns out it was the same as the original filter, approximately 9-inches high. From the picture of this product it appears to be 24- to 30-inches tall, and none of the literature I could find on any site gave the cap height. The customer service guy at Hayward, somewhat condescendingly said "it's only a picture" you shouldn't go by that". Well, my opinion is that Hayward should correct the picture! The purpose of a photo is to get some idea of what you're buying; it should be accurately representative. After a delay in getting confirmation of the height, the item arrived and snapped into place in less than 15-minutes. Almost overnight the pool cleared up and is sparkling clean again.

I don't review products because I don't like wasting time. I moved from a 27 Sq ft de Hayward to this model and I am very happy with it. It is a work and time saver. I have not had to even open it yet only backwash.

I have to admit that Amazon was not exactly my first thought for purchasing pool equipment. So when my 12 year old Hayward DE7220 started leaking, I was not sure where to start looking. I found a great deal on Amazon, and figured I would give it a shot. I got my new one delivered in no time, and install was a breeze. It came fully assembled, and fit perfectly. I can’t believe how easy was. Great product, Fast delivery, Easy install…Amazon hits another one out of the park.

Replacing a filter this size is a major investment. This filter replaced a 10 year old Jandy filter with a cracked housing. I chose the Hayward filter because they have reputation for quality products.
