Otherwise the same. I have now standard as set & special as separate, so far satisfied. **Q: What needle diameters are included** A: Hi they start at 3.5mm Ang go up in half sizes to 12mm. I have had to buy a 3.75mm to add to the set and sometimes use my old needles for the quarter sizes. What's a bit annoying about this case is that there's nowhere add more needles to the set. However I really do like the feel of the needles and they seem to be good quality. **Q: Are the cables the same as previous kits i.e. they don't flex very easily and are quite rigid so quite often twisted?** A: I dont think the cables are rigid, an I never had the problem you describe. This kit is beautiful, and the size is engraved in the metal, very easy to read. It is a very good quality kit I think. **Q: How long are these needles? They seem shorter than the other set. Thank you.** A: There are 2 types of needles sets. One is with red colour fabric & the other one is with blue colour fabric as their cases. Red colour one is shorter one with 8.5-10cm length & blue one is, I’d say usual size with 11.5-13cm. If you are to work on small projects such as top down jumper sleeves, red one (shorter one) might be helpful. I only have blue one and have knitted blanket, lapghan and infinity scarf. First the stunning case, it is so well made and has added touches like being able to use it as a stand for patterns/charts due to the elastic loops and toggles, it even has magnets so you can easily see which row you are on. The needles themselves are so smooth that the stitches glide off them and the vast selection of sizes ensures that you always have the size you need. The cables fit superbly with no chance for stitches to catch.
