This lock will do a great job of keeping honest people honest. It wouldn't take too much work to defeat the lock, so if your goal is to really secure something against thieves, this isn't the ticket. However, if you want to keep something secure in your own home to keep kids out, or if you really are just locking up something not that valuable to keep honest people honest, this lock works fine. I used it to secure a dog waste station to a building wall.

This product was okay. It did what it was supposed to however it was actually quite difficult at first to unlock and lock with the key. Once you get the hang of it, it’s not as hard. You have to turn and pull at the same time, so maybe if you are using this for a gun as it is intended that will be a positive for you. I did not use it for that so it was a bit of hassle, but overall good product!

Cable locks are a great way to keep children away from firearms. However, if your firearm is stolen, cable locks are very easy to break with bolt cutters or other simple and cheap cutting devices. Cable locks are cheap because they're only designed to be a simple deterrent. Most, if not all new firearms come with a cable lock these days. The only reason I purchased this was to demonstrate its use in my firearms safety class. Frankly, if you're not using your firearm, it should be locked in a safe. Trigger locks are another great deterrent because you usually have to destroy the trigger mechanism to get a trigger lock off. They're a bit more expensive, but a trigger lock is not only a better investment, many law enforcement agencies give them away for free.

if you have/had a Glock lock, this is pretty much the exact same thing. Feels to be good quality and works well for airline travel and storage. Good value for the cost.

Keep a few of these around for your firearm safety. I like the bright green; works well for visibility. Obviously, anyone that really wants to break in and "get" that gun, can just take some cable cutters and take this off. However, this is good enough to deter and prevent most people from getting into your firearm for unauthorized usage.
