For the money, this tool works well. Seems like it will last a long time if treated with care. Pretty easy to learn how to read. Seems to be much better than attempting to measure the chain on the bench with a tape measure or ruler. Quick to use too, since you can use on the bike and measure several spots really quick to get a good idea of how the chain is stretching and replace it before it wears the cassette out.

I recently bought the Park CC4 chain wear indicator as it works on all bike chains including 12 speed chains. Super easy to use. Replacing your chain often is key to drive train maintenance. Much cheaper to replace a chain than cassettes and chain rings.

Now I can tell when my chain needs replacement. I no longer have to rely on my bike shop to tell me. It takes less than 2 seconds to see whether your chain needs replacement. For 11 and 12 speed chains, replace after .5% wear. For 10 speed chains, replace after .75% wear. Just snap onto the upper or lower chain section and see where the opposite end winds up. The video provided is excellent.

This chain wear indicator is more accurate than the two point design as it eliminates roller wear from the measurement showing actual stretch (pin wear). This is the measurement that is important.

Easy way to see chain wear if the end point slips into the chain linkage. Keep your chain clean and lubricated and it will last much longer. An overly oily chain attracts dust and forms a paste that wears out your chain faster and will cost you money to replace.
