Not just a dye setter for home dying, but awesome for prewash of new clothes that color run & to keep your black clothes black!
Though I initially bought this for dying fabric, I find I used it often on brand new designer clothes to set the dye from THEIR processes so I can avoid having to be so "specific" with my basic laundering. Most of my clothing tags say "launder separately, inside out, cold/cold delicate wash" I have found that more often than not, it is due to dye color bleed NOT the fabric itself...I don't know about anyone else but I don't have time to launder every single item of my wardrobe separately lol...its not like I only wear a couple of different colors. I actually wear a lot of different bright "jewel tone" colors along with the basic darks so simply separating like colors is not recommended for many of these items either. So, when I buy something new, I wash it in this FIRST, according to instructions until I have no more bleeding. I have yet to have color transfer issues on my clothes after using this and mixing my laundry so I would say this works like a charm to set dye! AWESOME to keep your blacks actually black as well. :) Of course, once I treat my new clothes with this, I do wash on delicate, inside out, on cold/cold but not because of color run but just to keep them their brightest and darkest for longer. (I use detergent specific to darks etc. as well...I find doing these things and starting with this, my clothes look new even a year or more later, with no fading.) Using it this way, it makes it well worth the price! (because lets face it, it is pricey for such a small bottle...but not when you calculate the savings of your hard earned money forked over for a new wardrobe sooner just because of fading issues like your favorite black pants are now gray! This way you can at least hang onto things until the styles have changed enough that you WANT new clothes lol.) When dying your own fabrics, well...lets face that too, few hobbies are cheap lol so it is what it is price wise.

No more bleeding of colors
I have used this a few times when washing new quilts. The most receipt quilt was red on white Christmas quilt. I used this along with color catchers and no red bled onto the white.

Saved My Quilt!
This stuff works!! I had my entire quilt done and prewashed it. I did not throw it in the dryer but hung it up to dry. Was so upset to see how much the red fabric transferred into my white fabric on many of the blocks. Figured it was ruined. Did a little online research and Synthrapol had good reviews so i ordered it. Soaked my entire quilt using it in the hottest water possible. I used the air dry setting on my dryer. I was so relieved to see Synthrapol did exactly what it said it would do. It saved my quilt and i will always keep some on hand now.

A Must have for Tie-Dyes!
This is the best dye fixer ever. I even used it in our regular laundry to remove any build up from softeners or grime. Our bath towels are like new again. My niece used it on her spouses work clothes & he noticed how much cleaner his work clothes were. I recommend Synthropol for tie-dye, it's a must have to use for Prewash & final dye removal. A little goes a long way. Only takes 3 tbsp per washer load & your items are ready to wear fresh out of the dryer.

Doid not work removing colour's runs on cotton upholstery fabric
Very disappointed that this did not work to remove colour's runs on my cream ottoman cover. I followed directions to the letter and it made absolutely no difference to intensity of number of runs on item I ended up using two other methods to remove/ reduce runs with limited success but still, these methods made a positive difference unlike this product. As synthrapol 's primary use is for stripping oils and finishes and removing excess dye after hand dyeing ( which I do) I will reserve judgement until such time as I can use this for other applications. 2 stars down as it did not work for one process mentioned above 3 stars as I didn't realize a product like this existed until I researched how to remove red colour's runs off cream cotton upholstery fabric, but I do have other multiple uses for this product It's not available in Australia except through Amazon from what I can see. So my 3 stars are high hopes ,it will make dyeing a lot easier with better results. I have about 30 items to dye, so will update once this is done

This is a must have for quilters
I've have had many fabric colour bleed disasters with my quilts over the years. Now I wash them with Synthrapol and hot water and the bleed doesn't happen with this method. The loose dye is suspended in the water and doesn't settle back down on the fabric

Great product
Used it for years to prevent staining from spare dye. Good quality. I use it after every steaming process

Great industrial cleaning liquid.
I use Synthrapol to wash anything I've knit with yarn that I've dyed. Synthrapol gets the excess dye out and suspends it so it doesn't absorb back into the knitted item. It works good on some stains you might get on your clothes, too.

Great for preventing colour run
Brilliant for things like silk scarves. Ensures you have no colour run.
