The Ninja is the highest honor given to the dedicated followers of Ninjutsu, the deadliest of all martial arts Enter the Ninja explores the absorbing detail the Ninja's lethal, little-known the Art of Invisibility which includes the use of hypnotism, explosives, and super-human acrobatic fighting skills. Set in Japan and the Philippines, the film tells the story of Cole (Franco Nero, The Mercenary) a westerner who's been inducted into the secret fighting rituals of the Ninja. Coming to the aid of his friends against some land grabbing oil barons, he easily takes on all opponents until a Ninja assassin; Hasegawa (Sho Kosugi, Revenge of the Ninja) is brought into the fray. The two masters make use of all the exotic weaponry at their disposal making this one of the most sensational battle-to-the-death sequences ever filmed! Hollywood legend Menahem Golan (The Delta Force) directed this fast-paced, high quality, tough-as-nails martial arts film with style and poise. Co-starring Susan George (Sudden Terror) and Christopher George (Day of the Animals).

When the fighting was real and men were men
This movie goes back in time to when the fighting use to be real. For you young people, back in the day we had real fights and real combat. Not like today with the fake MMA fighting that's choreographed. Unlike in MMA where half-naked men sit on each other for an hour slapping each other, back in the day we used awesome weapons like swords and nunchucks. We had awesome manly outfits. We were trained in a myriad of techniques. We were trained in stealth. A hundred ninjas could be fighting in your living room right this minute and you wouldn't know! We were the best of the best back in the day. This movie takes us back to a time of real ninjas and real combat.

A good nostalgic blast from the past
Enter the Ninja is the first of the Cannon Films' Ninja Trilogy which consists of Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja, and Ninja III: The Domination. It is really only considered a trilogy because the same production company made all of the films, and real ninjutsu practitioner Sho Kosugi appeared in each of the movies (although he played completely different roles in each movie). The basic plot of Enter the Ninja is that a mercenary named Cole, played by Franco Nero, is trained as a ninja in Japan. The movie opens at the completion of his ninja training in a great action sequence. One of his fellow students, Hasegawa, played by Sho Kosugi, resented having an American trained as a ninja, which sets up the end of the movie. The main part of the story starts when Cole goes to visit his war buddy Frank Landers (played by Alex Courtney) and his newlywed wife Mary Ann Landers (played by Susan George), who are the owners of a large piece of farming land in the Philippines. Cole soon finds that the Landers are being repeatedly harassed by a local land baron, Charles Venarius, the wealthy CEO of Venarius Industries, in order to get them to sell their property because, unbeknownst to them, a large oil deposit is located beneath their land. Most of the middle portion of the movie involves Cole beating up the local henchmen Venarius has hired to bully and coerce the Landers. At the end of the movie, we get the classic ninja-versus-ninja battle between Cole and Hasegawa. For those who get the Blu-Ray, the A/V quality is good, but not great. It is much better quality than the picture and sound on the VHS, which is how many of us in our mid-forties or older saw the movie when we were kids. But, it did not get a high-quality restoration and transfer given that it was an independent 1980s martial arts film. There are no extras on the blu-ray aside from the trailer for the movie.Overall, this movie is a blast from the past for those of us who saw it as kids. Chances are, if you were into martial arts at all in the late 70s through the early to mid-80s, you probably loved this movie when the horrible acting and cheesy fight sequences (and Nero's 70s porn stache) were easily ignored. It is kind of hilarious to watch Nero in the fight scenes in which he is not in the ninja costume because it is clear he had zero martial arts training or skill. But, when the stunt guy is in the costume and fighting with Kosugi, those are good fight sequences. Kosugi was still pretty green as an actor (not that he was ever a great actor), but he could pull off the menacing bad guy very well. It does have one sex scene (which is pretty tame) and a lot of violence (but even that is tame by today's standards), as well as its fair share of stupid comedy (including a guy with a hook for a hand). You definitely have to take this movie for what it is, and as long as you do not expect more from it than being a cheesy action movie with ninjas, it is enjoyable. If you are looking for an academy award winner, this is definitely not something you will be interested in.

This is a great old school Ninja film
Finally!!!!! I am so excited, I am a HUGE FAN of all of the Sam Firstenberg ninja films. I and i know everyone has been awaiting this to come out on Blu Ray...........The story is simple...American ex-soldier Cole (Franco Nero), finishes his tests to become a Ninja. One of his fellow Ninja students Hasegawa (Sho Kosugi), is old school and does not approve of an American becoming a ninja. After his tests are passed, Cole travels to the Phillipines to see his war buddy Frank. Frank is in the middle of a land dispute with the local crime boss, Charles Venarius (Christopher George). Franks wife Mary Ann (Susan George), is taken aback by Cole and very intrigued by him and his ways to help. Venarius wants the property and will stop at nothing to get it. Going so far as to bring in Hasegawa to challenge and try to eliminate Cole. This is a great old school Ninja film. Trust me they dont make them like this anymore. If you like martial arts and enjoy ninja techniques see this film.

Nero is a Ninja, but only when the mask is off
A classic bit of Cannon cheese with Django in the leed (except the kung-fu that's Mike Stone). Not nearly as bonkers as number three, or as action-filled as Return but it's a film close to my heart. 10/10 would spend the 90s asking my mom to rent this on VHS again.

The Art Of The Ninja
With The Bruce Lee Movie Enter The Dragon Breaking all records it was inevitable movie producers would Turn To The next fighting Art That of The Ninja warrior. The aptly Titled Enter The Ninja stars Franco Nero as a would be Ninja warrior skilled in The ancient fighting Techniques of The mysterious Ninja's. Franco Nero was a solid movie action man when This movie was made Though you see him more at home in westerns however in Enter The Ninja he Turns in an excellent action role while staying faithful To The whole concept of a True fighting Ninja warrior. Every good movie needs it's Heroine and in Enter The Ninja we have one of The best in Susan George. here George's character of Mary Anne hires our action Ninja To protect land grabbers stealing her land it's Typically The good old fashioned Hero To The rescue movie. Susan George had made a few daring movies in her lengthy movie career Straw Dog's comes To mind Though even in Enter The Ninja she is put Through The rough and Tumble scenes The movies action packed climax sees her bound & gagged as a dual To The death between Ninja warrior and assassin Takes place. The Blu-ray release of Enter The Ninja comes now better Than its ever looked before it was a movie popular on The old VHS scene but it's been rarely seen since. The stunning Trailer for The movie Taking in most of The films action scenes is an added extra for your interest The whole package comes in a slim flip open case not Taking Too much room on any film collectors shelf which makes Quite a saving and comes Highly recommended.

Somewhat a ninja movie but still.
This is the type of movie that I would recommend if you're into cheesy martial arts flicks. There are virtual unknowns in this movie and there's some pretty wicked comedy spoofs involved. Haven't seen this before but all I can say is you're in for a ride. This was shot in the '80s on the Philippines. If you're into '80s flicks this is for you.
