Quick shipping and works perfectly
Our original unit went bad after moving in, and was expensive at the local hardware store! Not a good combination during the cold New England winter, but this arrived by the following morning and was easy to install and worked without any issues!

Fixed our heating!
We noticed one of our zones wasn't working and found that it seemed one of our valve heads was faulty. Decided to try buying a replacement to see if it would work... Easy enough to switch out and then our zone was working! Thanks for a great price compared to other retailers.

Very easy to install, but follow instructions exactly.
My hot water heater was not heating the water. The tank depends on transfer of heat from a coil of pipe with hot water running through it to water in the tank. I found that the Taco zone valve was not opening, even though there was 24 volts of ac power between terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the valve actuator. Replacement involves simply removing the three wires connected to the defective actuator device, waiting for it to cool and retract its plunger, and then rotating it slightly until it releases. The new actuator is then dropped onto the valve and rotated slightly until it locks. Lastly, hook up the wires the same way they were connected to the defective actuator, being careful not to short them together. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY, or you may damage the replacement actuator.

… but why did the first one fail?
This is easy to replace – the hydronic system remains sealed, so just remove the 3 wires, and rotate CW hard. Install the new one reverse way.The one removed was only about 5 years old, the other 3 zone valves are still original at 25 yrs.The one that failed had extruded the thermal wax, but did not burn out the heater. It was also difficult to operate manually, so here’s hoping it didn’t fail prematurely due to some problem in the valve itself. With large pump pliers I ‘worked’ the valve operator a few times. It moved easy enough, and was smooth. The replacement works, but I think it still requires excessive force to rotate the actuator into position. So I still wonder how long this one might last.

Fast delivery
This part was out of stock at the big blue store and the big orange store with no hint of a delivery date in the near future. With no heat in one zone of the house waiting wasn't an option. I checked Amazon on a lark and got the part overnight. Easy installation and now the heats on.
