Space 1999 was one of the most lavish sc-fi series of it's era and still stands the test of time. The Moon in 1999 was inhabited by a 500 strong crew on Moonbase Alfa which handelled the words atomic waste. But a freak accident explodes most of the huge waste dumps and sends the Moon out of orbit with the earth. So starts the crews journey into deep space on the out of control travelling moon. This was a fantastic series which started on most TV regions during 1975 through to 76 with series 2. The Eagle was a multi-purpose small vessel not unlike the Space Shuttle but was of a modular design. It could be swapped around from engines to the main command pod on the nose. That's why on watching the series no two Eagles are alike with various add-ons. It was designed by Derek Meddings for Gerry Anderson and is an all time timeless shape. The moon was also protected by a Laser tank in the first series which is featured in this brilliant set. Also the alphans travelled over the moon surface in the Buggies which is also part of this set to 1.72nd scale. Product Enterprises have done an outstanding job with this Laboratory Eagle and it's booster rockets which featured in some episodes. It's a must buy to sit alongside the other Eagle variants which have the best detail possible. I would like to see some Alien ships from 1999 next from this company like the awesome 'Gwent' which was a thinking war machine.

Beautifull and fragile, this is not a toy. It's a collectable item, and it's written on the box : not suitable for people under 14!Many parts metal, but the main frame is plastic, and could break if manipulated by apes.Wish could open the doors of the cargo part and that the company building them could make the cargo parts available separatly, as every eagle seems to be the same body-frame...Nonetheless, a Space 1999 Fan could never regret to buy this item, especially this collector's box! I've been waiting 30 years to have my own Eagle (could never get a Dinky one as a child), but I don't regret now, this one is Magnifique :)Note : packaging is well done and great looking too.
