Pops up when it should
I absolutely trust NDS products! This pop up works great and stays open while under water. Well made and great for 4" pvc, sch. 40 pipe (or) flex pipe with adaptor. Sugg: Buy

Works good
This works in normal to heavy rainโฆ but in torrential rain you need to check them afterwards because the green top can blow off. Also they did not fit ideally to our drain pipes but my husband and was able to make them work.

Great item. Works as it should. I run them over with my riding mower with no problem

Solid emitter, wish the angle was lower down
The black pipe portion of the emitter is solidly built. The green pop up base itself feels a little flimsy. It doesn't seem to lock onto the pipe at all but perhaps that's by design. The emitter itself does get clogged with leaves which prevents it from closing all the way so it does require some maintenance. I wish the vertical pipe portion below the emitter extended further down before the 90 degree angle. Hard for turf to grow around that part as there is no room for soil below grass roots. This has caused a portion of the grass to brown and die around it.

The Best NDS Pop-Up For A 4 Inch Gutter Drain
I had a pop-up just like this one and I hit mine with the lawn mower which ripped the pop-up feature out of the ring and damaged internal plastic parts. I found this unit at a reduced price which did not cost but about two to four dollars more than the NDS universal replacement pop-up. Technically, a 4" NDS cap with pop-up or the universal cap with pop-up both fit the NDS 4 inch elbow. However, this model is 6.5" across with a full 4" pop-up whereas the universal model which doesn't come with an elbow is only 6" across and the pop-up is only 3 3/8" wide. Wider is better because it allows more room for drainage in the event leaves clog the line. The wider cap also looks a bit better than the smaller universal model although either model has a tendency to fade. This isn't too hard to install but naturally you have to dig a little if you replace the elbow as well. I like to install a stainless steel screw where the elbow attaches to the drain line to prevent slippage which requires a drill. The cap can be pulled off the elbow for easier removal of leaves.

Works like a charm
Works like a charm. I went a bit further and actually built a dry-well, putting a 5' hole filled with rock under the emitter. Instead of the 90 degree elbow my emitter is installed on top of a 4" PVC T. I utilized the 90 at my downspout. My drainage now goes under my patio slab sidewalk. My hope is this takes me into colder weather to provide continued drainage below the frost, but I'm not certain how that will work in the dead of winter. Not much water flows in those months anyway. During heavy extended rainfall the pop-up just spills on the lawn anything my dry-well can't handle. Installed at ground level I can take the lawn mower right over it as advertised, worry free. I went to all the big hardware stores for any device like this and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. I found none of the chain stores in my area sold them or really knew what I was trying to build. No problem buying one here on Amazon though. So far, I'd recommend this device to anybody wanting to get rid of a troublesome downspout and drain sitting in a traffic area. A little work trenching, but no more tripping hazard.

Works great for French drain excess water release
Simple to install, bugs don't get in and does not seem to smell. We had 2 very large rainfalls and it performed well, did not pop up all the way but worked as advertised. It is good quality product, much better than Home Depot sells. Price is little high, but I'm expecting to have this for years.

Easyinstal, parts needed glueing
This works well but the Emitter came out of the elbow the first time it rained and I had to glue it back in. Now price has rissen and I would look for a lower cost alternative.
