My mistake for not reading the description. I've bought two sets of the Turtle Beach Ear Force x41's for family which have 7.1 surround sound, but both relatives complained of the intermittent crackling and interference every few minutes during multiplayer games. They are now similarly priced (The x41 has been replaced by the x42). The F540 headset sounds very good (I would not say outstanding) and I've had no interference issues so far. I keep the base station within a foot of the router and usually my MacBook. One relative has to place his iPad in a distant room when left on because it interferes with the Ear Force 41's.I bought the F540's for $85 with shipping to replace a wired set, the Ear Force X11's, to get rid of wires and cables running from the sofa to the TV. There are 2 RCA type inputs in the back - one for and Xbox 360 and one for a PS3 - and one 1/8" input (auxiliary) for another device. I have my RCA cables connected to a home theatre system, on the same channel as the output from the TV to the home threatre system (I use optical), so that when I use the headset I have to mute the TV. I have also tried connecting a 1/8" cable from the TV headset output to the aux-in 1/8" input on base station and that works as well (except I have to unplug the cable from the TV when I'm done so I can use the home theatre system speakers).Sound quality have been very good so far, but I'm waiting to see how they hold up in a few months, at which time I'll update this. I'm happy with this set considering the price I paid. I've had good customer service so far from Logitech with the PC headset when the usb input on the headset became loose and consequently the headset could not charge. I'm being careful about carefully removing the usb cable from the headset so as not to create the same problem I had with the G930's.Setup is easy but I've had to unplug the power cable to the base station when changing input cables in the base station - there is an "input" button on the headset itself but doesn't seem to work when changing inputs on the base station while the station is actually powered on.My head is small and the fit is a good kind of snug, but I can see this becoming uncomfortable for a larger head over a few hours of wear. However, the replacement headset that Logitech sent me for the PC version was much looser fitting than the original, so I will assume that perhaps not all headsets are going to fit the same. The earpads are not mesh like the Ear Force X11's or similar, they are more like leather/pleather and so they definitely block out a lot more sound than my old X11's. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not a bad product but has some flaws. *by M***A on Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2013* First the pro's.The Logitech wireless headset f540 is fairly comfortable there can be a slight irritation on top of head after extended use but overall I like the design. Changing inputs is easy and it auto turns off if no sound connected in a set amount of time. I think it is like 15 minutes or so to save battery. They aren't noise canceling but can adjust volume on side of headset or from the input of course. Headset does come in clear but as later some flaws but is crisp and clear.The ability to connect to three different inputs is the selling point of this headset. The first input has the micro usb port that you connect the mic to and the red and white audio port. This port is for the mic. You can connect the ps3 to the usb and get sound/mic though the one port. This works for computers but since there is only one usb port you will have to change them out if you want to use the mic between systems. The second port is just a white/red audio port(the package does come with a white/red extension cable female to male end for system input) . The third is a standard port for connecting I think 3.5 mm audio cable. I connect my vinyl player to this but pretty much would work for mp3/ipod/computer players. Just connect the double male end cord to the inputs (comes with the package).Charging the headphonst is with a usb to I think micro usb or something like it cord that comes with it. You can connect it to the wireless transmit box on the front or a computer(I use my keyboard's usb port to charge it since the cord isn't too long so I can game and charge). The mic swivels up or down and auto turns on when in down position. You can also turn off the mic with side button. One side note is if you use the usb port you can connect it to say a computer and get sound from the video cables to a ps3 all at one time. So you would have mic going /sound from computer and sound from ps3 at one time.Sound quality is good and enjoyable. I can walk around a pretty good distance while still receiving input. Easily 3 or 4 rooms away. It is nice to listen to movies/music while going to restroom. My favorite part is the sound quality of this headset and enjoy the wireless capabilities.The cons.The biggest con of this headset is the side tone. Your mic is going to be super sensitive and pick up all the sound the typing of the keyboard the coughs squeaking of chairs etc. The sidetone means it sends the noise through your headset so basically you hear yourself talk. You get used to it and some people actually like this better but you can't turn this off it seems. There is a way if you plug the xbox cord to the port on the headset you tame this feature. However being a headset I want to game and use ventrillo/skype push to talk is what I am limited to.The power cord is a European cord ( I think) that comes with a flimsy adapter for U.S. power strip. So if you move the box you might lose power till you plug it back in. Kind of annoying wish they would of made it just straight American power supply.You may need to buy some more cords/extensions to get your set up running as you want it to. Use online don't buy overprice cords at bestbuy.Overall it seems this is mainly a headset for 360/ps3 console. Computer gamers may want to go elsewhere. The mic is the major flaw of this headset. I still enjoy it and use it daily. I like the be able to switch between computer and vinyl player on the go.
