Focal Focal Elegia Closed-Back Circum-Aural Headphones (Black)

Maybe the best closed back headphones I have found, for the money. Both clarity and soundstage, very surprising. Even the presentation is amazing. I was worried I may have gotten aboard another hype train, but no. As long as you don’t except some heaping helping of sub bass, and aren’t sensitive to some clamp force, which I heard lessens up in time…I recommend these to anyone looking for a hifi closed back without any serious buyers remorse.

This is a closed headphones, so I can enjoy Focal Clear like sound at the office.

Good headphone. Worth the 500 or so cost. Highs can be a bit hot at times but, alittle EQ can go a long way. I'm using a Schiit stack with these. Maybe a tube amp would warm these a bit. I'm happy I got these though, because, who can afford a pair of Stelias.

The Good: These are great headphones for Classical, Jazz, Opera, rock & roll, video games, & movies. The sound is so separated and spaced correctly that it almost has a 3d effect, really beautiful for opening sounds & soundscapes up. For a lot of classic and indie rock type albums it'll put you in the room. Very clear, lightly heavy in the mid to upper mid and a nice clear high end. The material & build quality is very nice. They feel sturdy, but are not heavy, and are very comfortable which is important for flicks or studio time. They also come with nice, albeit huge, travel case. Likely too big to "travel" with.The Not as good: Not as great if you're into Hip-Hop &/or Electronic type sounds that tend to be bass heavy. Elegia's tuning definitely lacks in bass frequencies. The headphones can produce heavier bass if EQ'd a bit, their initial tune just doesn't bring bass forward much. The Cable provided is terrible, stiff (always in the way) & short, so expect to replace that. The style is alright, but virtually all their other headphones look sleeker.I don't love the idea of pushing a headphone in a direction that it's not intended to go, so I'll keep looking. I purchased these used (mint) near $300 so I may hold on to them regardless. I wouldn't be as excited about them closer to their $600ish new cost.All complaining aside, nice cans.

My Hi-Fi journey began in the 70's with the building of a giant set of Goodman's speakers, accompanied on the way with many varied amps, decks, receivers, headsets etc, and arriving today, at the age of 77, with my latest music listening iteration, an Audiolab Omnia 'all in one' paired with this glorious Focal Elegia headphone set. Sevenoaks Sound & Vision On-Line sold them at around 1/3rd of the original £1k RRP and delivered them, free by DPD, in a shade less than 19 hours!!!!! Amazing service, for sure. These 'cans' deal admirably with my eclectic musical tastes, which I often refer to as 'anything from Montserrat Caballé to Motorhead', with The Blues, Jimi Hendrix and The Who featuring as my 'top three'. The Elegia is by far the best sound quality headphone I've enjoyed from the many that have covered my ears over the past half a century. Whilst I'm no technical expert, I do know what I like in terms of sound reproduction, and these reproduce the full spectrum of my musical tastes perfectly ....... I LUV 'EM.

Acquistata ad un prezzo eccellente, questa cuffia è fantastica. Suono pulito, coinvolgente, comoda. Utilizzata con un cavo bilanciato XLR e collegata al Violectric V280 final edition. Sono soddisfatto al 100% per come viene riprodotta la musica. Ottimo acquisto!

Je voulais acheter un casque filaire, Français et de qualité. Mon choix s’est porté sur la marque Focal. Il faut un « rodage » de 100 heures pour permettre une écoute qui vous permettra de redécouvrir votre musique. J’écoute de la Pop et du métal et c’est un vrai régal. Bien sûr, c’est avec de la musique non compressée que vous obtiendrez les meilleurs résultats. J’ai été livré en temps et en heure. Je suis pleinement satisfait de mon achat même si le prix de 500 euros peut en rebuter certains. Bernard

These have the best sound I've ever heard, I can't listen to my own mp3 files as once you try flac or hi rez music it completely blows your mind. The bass is good the midi and trebles are brilliant. I've had to buy a dac which allows me to use my phone as the dap player and keeps the sound to the best sound possible. I can see why audiophiles spend thousands on their systems, commercial headphone are blown away by these. These are expensive but they made me fall in love with music again which is worth the money.
