Best I've used so far...
So after being impressed with amp modelers and watching a bunch of YouTube comparisons of this to a tube amp, I decided to try this out during the period later in its life span. It was more reasonable given the $200 discount this month with free effects package from Line 6 normally valued at $99.Prior to owning this I have used only solid state amplifiers. I most commonly play in my home and have only performed a few gigs. I play guitar and bass and was looking forward to something I could play both through. I intend at some point to get a powered PA to play through, but right now am using Sennheiser head phones. Also, I bought the FBV Short board to control it.Overall I am impressed. I do not have a tube amp to compare it to, and probably never will. The guitar presets sound pretty good to my ear. I have read a lot of reviews saying you need to mess with them a lot to get decent sounds, but I have not found this to be the case. There are tons of presets and room for about 100 custom user tones. There is a website you can share and download tones from for free. It is easy to edit with the software connected to a laptop. I did not mess with the on-board controls to customize but it looks similar to easier than other multi-effects units. One negative with the presets is most of the bass presets sound too weird for me to use. There are usable things to make your own tone. Just weird settings preinstalled. The unit also includes a looper and a tuner. The pedal works great with it. I mostly got this to simulate different amplifiers. You can choose amps, cabinets, and even the microphone for the sampling. I chose this over the HD500X because I thought I could run a standard pedal board through it at some point if necessary. It is fun having the ability to try out different pedals in your home. It is kind of like getting the keys to the pedal shelves and letting you try out all sorts of pedals.I'm very pleased with the pedal and look forward to years of use out of this thing. At some point in the distant future I may upgrade to a different modeler, but right now you can't beat the price on this. The next step up costs about 5x as much.

Amazing addition to my rack for recording...
So I don't play out, but I do record... A lot.... Setting up mics and amps can be a nightmare. Achieving a desired tone can be a bigger nightmare. This little sucker resolved a lot of those issues for me. The ability to connect this to a computer and design your rig with the downloadable software is amazing. The amp and speaker emulations are pretty impressive, as well as the effects and different microphone setups. This is not a replacement for a Tube amp. Most the music I record is not centered around the guitar though. If you're looking for an authentic Blues "S.R.V." sound, go invest in a Princeton or Bassman. Some of the presets are a little bizarre but I believe they're purpose is to show you what the unit can do. If you're into Heavy metal or alternative Rock sounds this thing won't disappoint. So in summary, if you record a lot and need a nice palette of sounds on the fly, this thing is great for the price.

Useful Studio Tool
I have several amps that will do silent recording. But I wanted to try this as an add on to my arsenal in my home studio. I really really like the sounds I am able to out of this thing and the speed at which I can change sounds. The only thing I don't like is how it edits patches. Trying to edit patches on the machine itself is hard due to the tiny screen and my old eye. So I plugged it into a lap top for editing via USB. The problem I find there is the clunky user interface of a virtual effects chain into an amp then mixer. Other then that glad I added it.

Best music investment for my guitar playing
I had been wanting this for a while as a guitar player and the quality and customization is endless. I bought this to add on to and really kick off my music production. They're so many effects to stir my imagination and creativity. It has made it that much easier to build my skills as a musician. I'd totally buy again.

this is a fantastic piece of equipment
Warning: If using as your output device/soundcard, there may be some software hiccups that cause your drivers to hang. When unplugging/turning off/changing certain settings while connected to my computer, this thing has made it bluescreen.Other than that, this is a fantastic piece of equipment. Versatile, rugged, and at a fair price point. Your best bet if you don't want to pay for a Helix or an Axe FX.

Selling damaged units. Have offered no help
Hd Pro unit gave me Re flash memory error after 2 weeks. I am unable to re-flash and have tried every solution presented in forums. Amazon will not respond nor will vendor. Line 6 has no service center in my area and authorize dealer has been no help. I have tried everything. As of right now this has been the most expensive door stop ever. I don't even have the strength to post a proper review, this equipment should not break after weeks of use. Now more than ever I am sure i was sold a damaged unit.. Do not buy!!!! Do not Buy!!!!Do your research before buying. everything seems great till it stops working for no reason.
