Q: Is the bamboo glued or is each piece all one solid piece of bamboo?

I did not get the set, but I did order a ten inch bamboo spoon from Helen's Asian Kitchen and it is one solid piece of bamboo. Hope this helps.

Q: How wide is the spoon, are 12" and 15" the same?

I have the 12" spoon. The spoon end is 2" wide, 3" in length. The handle is 7/8" at the end and it narrows to 5/8" just before the spoon end. I have used mine almost everyday for a few years even put it in the dishwasher, and it is still in great shape.

Q: Does it have a coating or varnish? I am looking for one that does not.

slightly. but I use this often when homemade sauces. I haven't had any problems at all.
