Why is the gel amber color?

Because of the 200ppm silver particles which have a true amber color- as nature intended.

Will it sting when I apply it to my skin?

No, unless applying to an open area of the skin, which the tea tree oil ingredient may slightly sting. Alternatively, Silver Wings makes a similar gel formula without tea tree oil.
