There is nothing "Heavy" about this shirt
I was disappointed in the shirt, and expect that all others are the same, in that they are thin. I was judging by a previous shirt put out by the Duck Commander, which used the same company for "Heavy 100% Cotton". They've obviously outsourced and gone to cheaper materials at the same price and description. I have no choice but to keep them, as its all I can wear with my back brace from chin to pelvis, and after surgery. I can see my hand from under the shirt. These are about as thin as the old Fruit of the Loom under shirts used to be. All the best if you are looking for a shirt of this type. For example: I've provided photos of an "old" green T-shirt of the same description/brand, and the current purchase with the tag afixed and the producer. I hope this helps in your decision making. The last photo shows my fingers behind the shirt when held up to the computer screen. It is obvious that one IS heavy and one is not....I should have known by the weight of the box.

Not heavy, not 100% cotton
I expected a product named Heavy Cotton to be what we'd think of as heavy and cotton, like the Gildan Ultra Cotton t-shirts I've purchased in the past. I was not pleased to find out that they are 50-50 cotton/poly blend, which is fine if that is what you want, but I was looking for something that breathes like 100% cotton, or 95% cotton, does. These do not, which means that I will keep them for when I need better insulation, but they are too hot to wear when the temperature goes up. They are also not very heavy, which makes me suspect that what Gildan calls Heavy Cotton is some branding or marketing name they use to hide the fact that these are not heavy nor pure cotton. They are, however, inexpensive. The tear-away tags are nice, but there is no printing on the material itself, which means I will eventually forget the size and material and maker, which seems a bit strange. I have purchased lots of Gildan cotton briefs and t-shirts over the last decade because the quality of Fruit of the Loom and then Hanes went down the tubes. I hope this does not indicate that Gildan is also shifting to making low price/low quality products that I can't afford to toss money at. If so, then that's a real pity, I've been a very happy customer until now.

Not as heavy as I expected
Decent shirt for the price but should not be named heavy. It is pretty thin.

Bottom of shirt and sleeves roll up. Cheap and thinner material
I bought these in Maroon and forest green color and the green ones fold (roll) on the bottom of the shirt and in the sleeves. I’ve bought many of this brand before and never had this problem. They’ve either switched the materials and went cheaper or something.I got them in a two pack which was great for the price of about $7.88, until my husband wore them for the first time and we saw how bad they were. The quality was really poor and the fit was too large. I wish the company would go back to the sturdy quality it once was known for.My husband has t-shirts in this brand and they lasted a couple years. Sad to see that they took the cheap route in their making of shirts. He was loyal to this brand t-shirt, but if they don’t improve, I won’t be purchasing them anymore. I would NOT recommend this particular shirt. However, the maroon color fit good and didn’t roll and the fit was fine, so not sure why the green did not. I gave 2 stars because the quality and fit was not good!

Good outside work T-shirt
Bought these for working in my yard. They are just the right size (XL) and length. On me, the hem is down to the bottom of the front pocket openings on my jeans and the fit is slightly loose, not figure hugging.I'm not sure what the definition of "heavy" is supposed to be. These seem to feel slightly thicker than the Hanes or Fruit of the Loom multi-pack white T-shirts you can buy at your local supermarket, but you can still easily see through them when held up to a sunny window, for example.I waited to do this review until one shirt was washed to record the amount of shrinkage and see how the texture changed. New, they are almost silky in feel. Very nice. Once washed, they lose that and become slightly rougher, like any other T-shirt. After one wash, as shown by the photo of washed over top of new, they have lost maybe 1"-1.5" on length, but the width change was minimal and the fit is still a loose XL. The color faded slightly also. It's a T-shirt and it'll meet my intended use, but I wouldn't say they were "special"

Burlap bags designed to look like t-shirts
I bought four 2-packs of different colors. These shirts are terribly uncomfortable, especially compared to other brands sold at local "marts". I have a supply of Gildan white undershirts that I consider to be the most comfortable shirt ever made and I just love them! I've washed these shirts several times with a good, quality fabric softener and they still feel like a burlap bag. I don't know how other people can say these are "soft and comfortable", mine certainly are not. I bought the 2XL and I swear the neck opening is an XS. Choker collar included with your new burlap bag t-shirts. I would not buy these again at any price.Update 9-20-19 - decided to wear one of these shirts today when I noticed there is a nice hole in the armpit. These shirts are pure crap!

Better than before
I bought a lot of these shirts last summer, and bought more again this year. This year the material is much softer, it didn’t shrink nearly as much as last year, in the ham at the bottom of the shirt stays down. 100% improvement, and I liked them last year!

Shrinkage!!
We usually buy exclusively Gildan Heavy Cotton brand shirts for my husband, as they seem to fit the best, and are very durable. The last order I made, I ordered 10 shirts, all same fit, just different colors. I received 4 one day, which I washed immediately in cool water and tossed in the dryer. Today, I received another 4 shirts, and I cannot believe how much they shrank! The blue is obviously the washed shirt, the green is fresh out of the package-Very disappointed in Gildan if this is their new standard of quality.

If you're looking for cotton, read the details
The tees may be called heavy cotton, but you have to read the details carefully. The ad said solid colours were 100% cotton. Later on it said heathers were 50% polyester. After looking at a number of colours, I selected what looked grey to me. Unfortunately, it was heather and turned out to be 50% heather. Feels like I'm wearing mosquito netting.

Poor Quality Cotton
The cotton Gildan uses is rough or course for cotton. ALmost has a Merino "itch" to it.As a purchaser of Hanes t-shirts, same cost more or less at least for the white t-shirts, I recommend the Hanes.Hanes cotton is super soft; almost silky in comparison. For cheap T's I am going with Hanes!

100% Cotton
Classic Cotton Gildan shirts. Sturdy and durable as anticipated. Any good band shirt I've owned that's lasted was a Gildan Tshirt. So I'm going to put these 2 shirts to the test at work and they might just be my new Go To Tshirt.

Great Value Shirts!
While looking for some new tshirts I found that most shirts from the name brand retailers were in the $30 range. I even loaded up a cart which totalled almost $100.00 for three shirts! Refusining to pay the rediculos price I searched amazon for shirts. By the way, when you are searching amazon use the filter to sort by 'average customer review', this is how I found these shirts and I find that filter very helpful. I was hesitant to order the shirts as you have to think for approximately $6 a shirt the quality is likely going to be poor. When I received the shirts the quality seems decent to me for the price. The label say 100% cotton. The fit is slightly larger then I was expecting but for that I was pleasantly surprised as that is what I was hoping for. I'm 5' 11" and 220 and purchased the XL. The length comes down to the bottom of my Jean's zipper which I like so everyone doesn't have to look at my butt crack when I bend over. The quality is satisfactory, keeping in mind it's a $6 shirt and you get what you pay for. However, now when I get oil on my shirt from cooking or working on my truck, it's no big deal...throw it out put on the next $6 shirt. Plus I dont care for brand name labels. Why the hell should I pay a premium price for cloths to end up walking around advertising for them?! Highly recommend based on excellent value.

Suitable for daytime hi-viz
They fit fairly long...I'm 5'10" and the T runs almost to the bottom of my back pockets. That's perfect if you wear coveralls and your shirt insists on crawling up your back all the time.Very bright. Suitable for daytime hi vis...I bought some 1/4" iron-on reflective tape that I used on the sleeve cuffs so they'll be acceptable at dusk and dawn. They passed muster with the safety guy. The maple leaf is also iron-on.I bought half a doz. I've used Gilden T's similar to these for years and if you want them to stay blinding and avoid safety-guy grief, you need to rotate them and don't wash them with darks....and if you have to do that, use cold water. I wash them with my whites, no bleach, oxy, and in cold water. They stay pretty close to new for a couple of seasons that way. Fifty bucks is cheap for a couple of years safety vest-free. ;)
