Glo-Toob IR950 Infrared 950

I've seen several Glo-Toob LED lights in action and have never been disappointed, I must admit though, I purchased the infraRed Glo-Toob for the soul purpose of using it on my boat/lifejacket in case of an emergency offshore. I have no means to test the light as it doesn't have any type of glow to show it's even on, what the heck ??? I own several military special ops Phantom Warrior LED/InfraRed flashlights and when you reverse the batteries within the flashlight, infraRed starts up but in the case of the Phantom Warrior, an ultra dim glow, within the LED shows that the infraRed is operational. Why Glo-Toob doesn't incorporate this in their infraRed lights, ? I don't know. Nevertheless, I gave the inferRed Glo-Toob 4 stars because I Am fully aware of the outstanding reputation of these almost indestructible LED lights. After carefully reading the instructions (included) on how to activate the light, I Am certain that i will be able to do so should an emergency ever require it. On another note, if anyone with the ability to see inferred happens to see an inferred glow on the ocean, (SEND HELP) !

I would say first off, Glo-Toob really should find a way to provide an indicator light or feedback loop for the infrared product (you can not tell if it's working or not). Because of this it's underwhelming at first, but when you consider Search organizations, especially those operating by Air simply have to start looking with their heat sensitive equipment to find you in a jiffy, then you really consider how invaluable these are.The inner tube is made of aluminum, the battery included seems ok, though i replaced with a name brand A23 battery. The on off mechanism is fail proof. The programing is a little difficult to understand and I can't really see the feedback just yet.I could definitely see this living up to it's nae in terms of construction quality.Two of these now hang off the main life vests on our ocean going boat.
