SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless Gaming Headset – USB-C – Detachable Clearcast Microphone – for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Lite, Android – Black

I purchased the SteelSeries Arctis 1 headset in May of 2022. It's over 2 years and I've put these through A LOT. I've finally decided to write a review because I'm impressed! 1. Battery life: I sleep in them. Most days they're probably turned on at least 12 hours and often upwards of 18 hours. I've let them die completely many many times. I also over charged them many times. The battery life on this headset is OUTSTANDING. If I let them charge up fully (well beyond the light turning green), they will last 12 or more hours even after the 2 years of the abuse I've put the battery through. Yes, I have to charge them a little more often than I did when I first got them, but that only equates to once a day. When I'm traveling or my usage is lower, I charge them once every 2-4 days. 2. Durability: Did I mention I sleep in these? I also sleep on my side quite a lot (idk how, it just works for me). They're structurally sound. I bend the headband a little tighter ever couple months. Only now am I starting to see the padding on the headband start to flake off a little. There's no issues with the connection between the left and right, nothing has shorted out. The mute switch and microphone still work. The charging light still works. The volume wheel might be slightly looser but still works as expected. 3. Sound quality: as with any over-ear headset the sound quality isn't as great as earbuds which is what I used exclusively before I got this set. I remember it not being as good as what I was used to. However, it has not deteriorated AT ALL over time. They sound the same as the day I got them. The beeping noise that it makes when the headset is dying has gotten quieter over time, which I love because it no longer wakes me up if it starts beeping in the middle of the night. 4. Design: Pretty standard design with a few improvements. I love that if I'm trying to plug the cord in while it's on my head or in the dark, it's pretty easy. They designed it so the cord just goes into the port in the most obvious spot. I haven't had such success on my work headsets in the past. I also like how the earpieces swivel. I have often put it on with one hand. 5. Fit: I'm a 5'3" female. Honestly, they're a tiny bit big for me. Yah, they're a little loose but that's only a problem rarely. My BF has the same pair (due to my influence). He's 6'2" and they're a little small for him. He uses them for gaming and switches to earbuds for everything else. 6. Mic: I don't usually have the mic in. I only use it for gaming in groups which is typically a couple nights a week. I just leave it live and haven't had complaints from my (unabashedly honest) friends. They've also said that the sound quality is better than what I had before (which was an old apple earbud mic). It does pick up my BF if we're in the same room, but that's probably more of an issue with the settings in discord. Overall, great headset. It has exceeded my expectations (especially after using the crappy Jabra wireless headsets at work. The Jabra headset seems to go on and off even when my work PC is in the lock screen and isn't in use. I use a mac outside of work. When my mac is off, the headset shuts off after a couple minutes and doesn't come back on; off is off.

I wasn't expecting much from this headset given the low price. I was a owner of Arctis 7 and loved it since day one. Since my turtle beach 520 snapped, I was in the market for a new one and decided to give Steelseries latest product a tried, Arctis 1. Its is unusual they decide to backtrack in their version number from 3,5,7,9x, etc. I think they answer my call on ability to address budget headset yet yield a very promising sound quality. Some of problem Arctis 1 solved over my Arctis 7 are: -USB adapter -> No need to use a 3.5mm jack to my android phone, PNP great idea. The USB has a very generous clearance so it should fit most cases for switch or Android phones. -Fall back option to 3.5mm -> If you ever need to fall back to 3.5mm jack, you still have this option -2.4GHZ wireless -> In Arctis 3, there are lots of latency problem with bluetooth, the 2.4GHz removed this headache. -Weight -> You are looking at 50% less weight than the Arctis 7 given its plastic construction vs steel head band construction. Dont get the wrong impression here, Arctis 1 was built with high quality polymer plastic where you can twist and turn without having to worry it will break. It was built for carry mobility (to airport, in car, to camp, you name it) -Comfort -> Compare to Arctis 7, the comfort was slightly reduce since it moved from the ski band to a regular headset casing, However I still feel comfortable wearing it for over 2 hours, not an issue. The air-weave ear cushion were identical to Arctis 7 and equally breathable. Again if you are thinking of getting a extra ear cushion, I would dont do that yet. Give it a try first and if you really dont like it you can upgrade. For people who work in dirty environment may consider getting a leather type cushion. That's my opinion. -Sound quality -> I would say almost equivalent, for most users they wont be able to tell, Arctis 1 has more of am Ommph and base but its not the same as other cheap headphone where the base overrides the sound quality. You get the same good quality tunes. The only thing that is lost is the immersion effect from the surround arctis 7, again I feel its not a issue for most people unless you sit and compare the two headset. For most music user, both are the same. If you are into gaming, both are equal in sound quality but if you really really care for that 7.1 digital effect then arctis 7 still the winner. For the price of $150 Arctis 7 vs $80 for Arctis 1, I think I can do without the 7.1 and save yourself 70 bucks to buy something else. In conclusion,this headset is solid, and would recommend to entry - intermediate user looking for a headset in the market. If you are thinking of HyperX Cloud/Crosair, I am pretty sure you will be happy with Arctis 1. I do want to point out HyperX did promised surround for the similar price but I feel the sound is just too hollow for my taste.

Disclaimer: While I am a big headphones enthusiasts (have tried/owned many different pairs), this only my second gaming headset, as I have usually played video games through speakers. I previously had a cheap Turtle Beach set that I used for PS4 multiplayer games with friends and family. Since building a new gaming PC 4 months ago, I've been using headphones for gaming more often. I've also had to use headphones for work since my job has moved to WFH for the foreseeable future. My favorite cans are currently my modded Koss Pro DJ100 w/ a good amp (closed set) and the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (open set) which I also use for mixing/editing audio tracks. I bought these because I needed a wireless set for couch gaming when I run my PC into my TV. Comfort & Looks: Arctis 1 = 4/5; Arctis 7 = 4.5/5 The plastic finish and plain look are OK but not amazing. For $100 dollars the look and feel is totally serviceable. There are some rough-ish edges on the headband, but everything else is smooth. The clamping force is a little tight for me personally, but it's comfortable otherwise (not too hot, headband rests OK, can move around just fine, etc). My partner has a smaller head than me and they love the Arctis 1 so far with no complaints (it is now their main headphone for working and gaming). The Arctis 7 is excellent for me and the headband is very comfy. The clamping pressure is less but still allows for movement without falling off my head. I like the slightly cleaner look & feel of the 7, but the 1 is sturdy in its own right (if just a little rough). Sound: Arctis 1 = 4/5; Arctis 7 = 4.5/5 The sound on the Arctis 1 is quite good for a $100 wireless set (although not an audiophile set exactly). Definitely a mainstream gaming EQ curve (extra bass, slightly scooped mid). The details are fine and the soundstage works well with stereo effects in music or games (like enemies clunking around in FPS games). There's OK high extension but they're slightly attenuated. Mids are generally accurate but there seems to be more prominent low and high mids honestly. After EQing in the provided software I was able to quickly set up a couple profiles (gaming and music) that sounded good to me for general gaming and listening. The Arctis 7 isn't incredibly different although I feel it's a little more balanced and has better isolation. The soundstage also feels a little more realistic to me personally and it feels just a little more detailed. The surround sound is OK, but I'm honestly fine with stereo imaging. Mic/Communication Functions: Arctis 1 = 3.5/5;Arctis 7 4/5 The mic is decent (same microphone on both), but it has that constant compression and low dynamic range thing going on. It's perfectly serviceable for communicating in games (and work meetings, Zoom calls, etc.), but don't try to record vocals with it or anything like that. I've been using it to teach and my students say it sounds fine compared to my usual SM58 or AT2020 setup.I should note that the Arctis 7 has game chat mix in case you want to mix the level of chat mixed into your game. It's a nice feature if you play games where chat is useful. I also love that the mic on the Arctis 7 can be pushed back up into the ear cup. Connectivity & Battery: Arctis 1 =4.5/5; Arctis 7 = 3.5/5 Great connectivity options on the Arctis 1, especially the USB-C dongle. So easy to switch between devices (including my phone) on the fly. The Arctis 7 has a traditional USB dongle with line in/line out 1/8' jacks. It's fine but less useful than the Arctis 1 dongle for me. The battery life is great on both and they charge back up pretty quickly as well. TLDR: Arctis 1 has higher clamping force, better overall connectivity, and it's rougher around the edges. The Arctis 7 is comfy, better built, and has better isolation and a tuck-away mic. I think the Arctis 7 sounds just slightly better, but they're both nice wireless headphones in their own right. If you have a small to average head and want to save $50, the Arctis 1 is great. If you want more polish, have a larger head, or want slightly better communications functionality, grab the Arctis 7.

The Amazing: Battery life is great, design I like a lot looking like a pair of good quality headphones, button to pause/skip/rewind videos if you walk away or tab out, detachable mic for those who don't need the headset's mic, packaging was great The Good: Comfortable headband, decently comfortable earpads, price not being super high but not super low, ability to be plugged in to your computer, the range you can walk away from is averagely good reaching my computer until I'm about 30ft away and 1 story down, the weight is nice it's not ultralight but not heavy at all The Mid: Preference wise I dont like how the dongle is C-Type but others would, the headphones might be a little tight for some people as they hug my ears but they fit perfectly on me (horizontally tight not vertically) The Bad: Why is the dongle C-Type but the headphone charging port Micro-USB????? it just makes no sense just makes it so you need another cord laying around for it, the mic quality is not Xbox Connect quality but definitely not great at all The Big Caveat: You need SteelSeries GG to change audio settings and to further enhance you need to use their audio mixer "Sonar" which very annoying toying with to have your audio how you want it, however I'm glad I can change it how I want unlike xbox/playstation/switch users. The default audio quality isnt bad but definitely needs the tweaking in Sonar to make it perfect. Update (10 days of use): If you wear glasses like me it takes away a ton of the bass feeling from you and to someone who loves to have super high bass I'm disappointed at that, and don't know if there are earpads of different material that would both fit and allow me to feel the bass. The padding on the head band is already coming off so that sucks too only after 10 days. After getting Sonar set up, I can say without glasses on, the audio is amazing though.

This headset is awesome. I did a good bit of research and landed on this one mostly because of the USB-C dongle that makes these connect to the Switch and an Android phone. However, I love them for a lot of reasons. I use them on my phone ALL the time for work calls and music by plugging the adapter directly into my Pixel Android. They are great. The mic is removable so they become regular headphones when needed. They are very comfortable and can be worn all day without issues. I have literally worn these over 12 hours without any issues. The battery is also incredible. I believe it says 20+ hours, and it means it. They recharge quickly and the 'power' LED changes color to indicate charge range. The companion app is great, providing a equalizer and the ability to control the auto-off timer of the headset. The audio response is great also. I play games that require attention to sound and direction, and these are well above all of my previous headsets. I really didn't know what I was missing. I came from the Sony Wireless Gold headphones, which I liked. These put them to shame for cheaper, with more functionality. I wear these for conference calls and playing online games (PC, Switch, PS4 and Android) every day. No issues so far. We liked these so much that we bought my wife a pair the same day I received these. If either of us encounter issues, I will update the review. Update: 5 months later and I still love these headphones. I've had zero issue with daily use of 10+ hours a day most days. Just for anyone elses knowledge, at no fault of the headphones, Samsung does not support microphones over USB C, meaning you can get audio with these headphones on a Samsung Android, but microphone will not work for games, calls or Discord.

I've been using these headphones for about 2 months. Also, I would like to add that I have had a set of their much more expensive Steel Series, Siberia Wireless Pros which cost $300. I also produce music and own a pair of DT-770 250 ohms connected to my audio interface. I also have Apple's Airpod Pros and a set of DJ headphones by Pioneer. I love headphones. Verdict. Considering the price, these are amazing headphones for gaming, the sound is fantastic. There isn't an exaggerated low end to the sound which is good for games because boosting the low-end causes ear fatigue in situations where there are lots of simulated explosions. Unless you enjoy the idea of hearing loss. They are nicely flat sounding straight out of the box. They can get loud without losing detail. But to really squeeze all the value out of these headphones, you will want to install the software from Steel Series and you can give these any sound profile you want with a multipoint band equalizer, with a level of detail found in DAW and the ability to then save the setting to the headphones on board memory. Comfort, they are super light, it's easy to forget that I even have them on. These are more comfortable than my Siberia 800's which I thought were pretty comfy. I tested these doing some music production and the latency isn't to bad at all. The latency is 32 ml which is about the same as a speaker 32 feet away. Not the best compared to a wireless set made for music production which does 16 ms but cost $350. For the money these are totally worth it. For music production, you can make these as flat as you want. Battery life is really good. One charge is good for at least 20 hours of continuous listening. Things I don't like. Considering the ultra-low price of these cans, I consider these complaints not really valid. But they do cost only what they cost for a reason. They charge with micro-USB A, which is annoying to deal with in the dark. The volume dial is really small and took some getting used to. Is it worth getting the next level model up for $40 more. Yeah, I think so.

I bought them in July of 2020 and I still have them and they still sound good are still nice and comfortable no complaints here I would totally recommend them. I Will submit a picture in the next week Thanks Jeff

I have a 3 year old Arctics 7 set, still amazing, the band is a little worn, I regularly wash the ear pieces every 1-3 months, BUT, after a year I had to buy replacement ear pads. The sound quality and battery life still great after 3 years. So, I thought I'd save some money and get the Arctis 1 model for lighter use gaming on my 2nd remote rig setup. HUGE differences between the 2 models. After wearing the Arctis 1 for about 2-3 hrs it hurts to wear any longer. They feel comfortable at first, but after a few hours it's painful. Sound quality and mic is great for the price. If they would fix the comfort factor these would be the best headset at this price point. I will be returning these and getting another Arctis 7 set, getting the white model this time so it's easier to locate lol. Update on the 2nd pair of Arctis 7 x2 - 10/20/21: The mic stopped working after a week of heavy use, ordered a replacement, that 1 randomly shuts off after 5 - 30 mins of use. Literally talking or listening games/music/movies and they just turn off... I found in some old forums that this can happen and to use their software to disable the auto shutoff feature which did not help with Windows 10 and is not an available solution when using Linux. The set I bought 3 years ago, shut off after 30 mins of idle time to save battery life which makes sense and is built in, so no need to install software to manipulate it. I have no idea why they would take a something that works great and change it to where its garbage - planned obsolescent scheme gone wrong? I'm getting sick of all the QC issues on BRAND NEW sets and am willing to pay more for better QC branded products at this point...

Bought this as a present for the wife for Valentine’s day. She loves it, audio quality is good and the ear cups are pretty comfortable. Comes with a USB-C female to USB-A cable in case your laptop does not have a USB-C port like my wife’s. Overall a good buy. Planning to get another one for myself since my current headset is showing signs of dying.

Comfortable, really good sound quality, easy connection, and good battery life! Definitely worth the money.

I spent a lot of time searching for a decent quality all in one wireless headset, one that could be used for gaming on PS4, Switch, and PC when needed. I also wanted to listen to my music on my phone with decent sound quality and isolation. There is an in depth review of the sound quality of the Steel Series Arctic 1 (NON WIRELESS) headphones on rtings.com, and it shows a pretty good picture of what this headset is capable of and I suggest you look it up for yourself. I hope they review the wireless variant soon. Personally I think the sound quality is good right off the bat, although the bass is boosted while the treble is a little muted. Some time with an equalizer improved this a little bit, but really for this price I'm very pleased considering this is the only type C low latency multipurpose headset. The isolation is weak, but I'm used to extremely open backed headphones so this is still an improvement for me. Sound isolation is achieved primarily with these being closed back headphones, yet for being closed back there is still a decent sound stage that the headset achieves. Unfortunately I have not used the microphone yet, but I read that it does an acceptable job for a removable mic. Now the build quality will not blow you away.. at all, but maybe that's why they were able to hit this approachable price point. Cheap plastic and very shallow/soft ear pads are really what I'm talking about, making it feel like any other relatively cheap gaming headset. There is a positive though, and if anyone has ever owned any other Steel Series Arctic headset than you may know. These have a very typical steel reinforced headband design, and that's GREAT, because every other Arctic headset has hinge and headband issues (including the most expensive Arctic Pro Wireless). Just look it up and you will find countless forums begging Steel Series to update this design so they don't have so send in their headset to warranty repair for the third/fourth time. Comfort is mediocre, but that is mostly due to the ear pads. You will feel your ears resting against the speaker grill and they will get sore. That is a very common complaint about this headset, but I intend to order modified all purpose ear pads to help alleviate that. Clamping pressure is pretty tight on my slightly larger than average head, but the headset is relatively light for a wireless variant. Breath-ability is average, the stock pads do an okay job with sweat control, not recommended to exercise with as wireless earbuds will be superior. Now you may ask what is all the fuss about this headset? Steel Series already makes a cheap Bluetooth gaming headset. The Arctic 3 Bluetooth may be more comfortable out of the gate, but Bluetooth still doesn't belong in the gaming spot light. High latency is still prevalent in the vast majority of Bluetooth headphones making them a big turn off for competitive, and even casual, gamers. Bluetooth doesn't always pair easily as well, making it mostly useful for listening to music on your phone. Other low latency wireless headsets require a (usually large) base station to be plugged into whatever device your are using, and they are not always compatible with every device you have. The tiny type C dongle on these headphones will have you hearing whatever you plugged into within 10 seconds, no fuss, with very low latency and a good 20 hour battery. The headset also comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter for consoles and computers. Overall the quality of this headset is okay to good, but as an android user with a type C phone this headset can be used wirelessly on anything I want for $120 retail. That's why this is a 5 star product for me.
