Flavor Name:Unroasted Green Beans | Size:2.5 Pound Whole Beans Heavy-bodied, spicy and fragrant, Ethiopian Harrar coffee is a wild and exotic dry processed (natural)Arabica coffee that is grown on small farms in the Oromia region (formerly Harrar) in southern Ethiopia at elevations between 4,500 and 6,300 feet. The province of Harrar, is east of Addis Ababa, the country’s capitol. It is one of the oldest coffee beans still produced and is known for its distinctive fruity, wine flavour. The bean is medium in size, with a greenish-yellowish colour. It has medium acidity and full body and a distinctive mocha flavour. Harrar is a dry processed coffee bean, with sorting and processing done almost entirely by hand. Though processing is done by hand, the laborers are extremely knowledgeable of how each bean is categorized. Harrar beans can be divided into three categories: Longberry, Shortberry, and Mocha. Longberry varieties consist of the largest beans and are often considered of the highest quality, in both value and flavor. In some cases this is true but more often than not it's just a marketing pitch. It is one of the highest valued coffees in the world. It is known for having very distinct aromas and flavors of chocolate, spices, and a complex of citrus notes. This is the magical flavor profile that buyers in the States are so desirous of, and so frustrated about when they cannot find it. Think blueberries, cherries, chocolate. The mouth feel is rich and creamy, and the flavors relatively heavy, but the acidity still has a bright clarity that enlivens the whole cup. The aroma notes included toast, honey, caramel, and the aforementioned berries and chocolate. Roasting Medium to French Roast. Contact merchant for larger orders.

Ordered City and Get from Medium to French
I've leaved an 1 star feedback to a Seller and got a unexpected reply making me upset.I know exactly roasting and Ethiopia bean was not uniformly roasted as shown in the 1st picture. And anybody would know that City do not mean non-uniformity but a specific roasting point before Fullcity.2nd picture depicts three coffee beans with different roasting point. The widely distributed at the upper side is my concerning Ethiopia bean ordered this time representing very colorful and actually have a smell of fresh bean. Right down is my previously owned Ethiopia bean which is roasted as exactly City. Left down is Kenya bean of Fullcity+ which is roasted by this seller. There are totally different story as shown in the last picture showing very different kind of roasted beans within Ethiopia bean ordered this time with City roasting point, but actually from Medium to French. This is the problem that I concern and I've just wanted to let seller know that roasting should be checked because I've read carefully Return Strategy telling that there could be no return when package is opened. However, I felt that seller do not want to satisfy or give sorry to not satisfying customer. This is another point of my concern.

Burnt, over-roasted beans - really wanted to like, but the flavor is ruined
Rhoads Roast is run by lovely people but, sadly, the reviews complaining of over-roasting are absolutely correct. Those who like extra-dark, Starbucks-style French roasting will like the "medium" roasted beans. But these beans are not for those who want a true medium. It wouldn't be inaccurate to say the beans are burnt. They were oily (in a lasting way, not a freshly-roasted way, which properly-roasted beans never should be) and the only discernable flavor was that of char. Very, very sad, because Harrar coffees have some of the loveliest subtle flavors of any, when properly roasted.I really do not like writing negative reviews, but in this case felt it was important to warn others. I waited quite a while before writing this, and see that several others have had the same experience (which was not the case back when I read reviews before buying). Adding an extra star for the nice people. The coffee itself is a "1".

Be Aware of Grade
I purchased 5 pounds of this coffee in green (unroasted) form for home roasting. I had just started home roasting and was not aware of of the different grades of coffee. Premium specialty coffee is typically Grade 1 or 2. Grade 4 is lower in quality. I roasted this coffee, and it was not bad, but not the level of quality I was hoping for. It isn't the seller's fault. They stated the grade of the coffee in the product description. In the future, I will be sure to check a coffee's grade before buying.

Dull
I didn't like the taste of this Harrar. It didn't have the aroma and lasting taste I'm accustomed to with this type of coffee: winey, rich flavor, aroma of blueberries...instead it was bland, watery, with no hum, even after following the seller's tips on letting sit for 24-36 hours after roasting. I brew it every day after day but there was no change in taste. It could just be a poor batch. Better stick to Sidamo.

Good shtuff!!!
Shipping was great. I have recently purchased yirgacheffe and Guji beans and find them similar not only pre ground but in tastes. I just roasted your Harrar after all the hype and so far the effects are quite a bit and the chaff stays on the beans. The pre grind is flat in aroma with no blueberry or fruity aromas. I will purchase this same seed from another vendor just to see if they are they same. I understand dry and wet deseeding methods. I hope the taste in the morning is not flat.2 days into gassing off and the taste is quite delicious...

My favorite, so far
My favorite, so far! These are the first actual light roast Harrar beans I've found. If you're looking for the "conventional" coffee taste and aroma that result from extended roasting you won't find it here so this quantity probably isn't the best for experimentation. However! If you enjoy light roast (I Turkish grind) this is smooth, great tasting coffee and the buzz is nicely round and lasting.

Coffee is good but i think should be less roasted
Coffee is over burned. Taste of burned thing not a coffee. I will not buy again here. Light roast is too light, medium is too burned... Whole bag of it in my fridge and nobody want to drink it. Waste of money.
