Changed My Mind
This was a fantastic book. I never thought about looking at Jesus from the East however it makes so much sense to look at Jesus as Eastern because he is from the East and at the same time, His teachings translate to my Western view and are very relevant. If you are looking to understand who Jesus is even more then this book is for you. You will find that this book will help grow and even change your mind and still it will help you to draw even closer to Jesus.

Seeing Jesus from the East book
It does open your eyes to the subtle differences between East and West thinking, thereby giving a better understanding of each. Better understanding on both sides could help reduce conflict.

Another RZ classic
Ravi Zacharias and Abdu Murray give insight into how an Eastern perspective is different than a Western, in our reading of the Bible. Neither is more important than the other, just together, they give a more full understanding. I appreciated their respect and love of Eastern cultures without making them more of the issue than the gospel itself.

Viewing through the eye—but, seeing with the heart
What this jewel of a book offers is the opportunity to understand and clarify the many misunderstandings that have come about from a lack of truly delving in and discerning the Word of God in its original Eastern context. The parables—examples of how to examine one’s own heart—were told by Jesus to an audience that understood not only the story, but the Scriptural truth which inspired it.As the West grapples with understanding the wisdom found in “biblical context”, all who read this book, will be able to go back to the Scriptures and read them afresh with clarity, wisdom and knowledge that far surpasses the misnomers and failings of Western Christianity theological teachings.

Amazingly wonderful
This book is more than a useful resource, it is a true guide in helping the western mind understand and appreciate the Eastern perspective. Ravi and Abdu write in a way that keeps you engaged and able to understand their central themes. If you are even a remotely interested in understanding a middle eastern Jesus you will want to read this book. It was worth every cent and I plan to read it again for ministry work and prep. God gets all the glory in this book.

Seeing Jesus from an Evangelical Light
This book was disappointing. The authors recognize a real need: to describe Jesus as a member of a Middle Eastern culture far removed from the Western cultures of our day. Perhaps a faith based approach to the rather endless books on the quest for the historical Jesus. Or they could compare his teaching with that of the Buddha. Or see how Jesus’s words appear to those raised with an Eastern worldview. Or they could even just describe the actual beliefs and histories of the Christians of the East.Instead one gets the minimum elements of Eastern culture: stories are more important than logic, families than the individual and weddings are more of a community event. The authors, a South Asian and a Middle Easterner, surely could have drilled deeper than these well known attributes. Most of the book isn’t about recovering or describing an Eastern Jesus: it’s a rehash of standard Evangelical messages. I am not an Evangelical Christian and so my lack of inspiration may be simply personal. Perhaps many Evangelicals will find meaning and inspiration in these words. Certainly, Billy Graham was very successful with preaching one unchanging message.I just expected some real scholarship or new insights into the most fascinating character in all of literature. But, if you go in with the expectation of hearing a good, though lengthy, sermon you may not be as disappointed as I was in this book.

Eye opening
I had never considered Christ from an Eastern perspective before. I didn’t even now to think about it that way. I am grateful to these brothers in Christ for enlightening me.

An excellent review of the Cultural background of Jesus
This is a much needed text for our time. It breaths fresh life into the Gospel message recovering it from its contemporary trappings which have made it vulnerable to unjustified modern criticism.
