The real deal
Multi settings make this perfect for night hikes or in camp. rechargeable core battery and carry a few spare aaa’s and no worries. Very light weight. Perfect hiking/camp light or even emergencies and power outages. Not durable enough to be a mechanic’s work light this is for hiking, climbing, camping.

The perfect headlamp!
This headlamp fits well, is easy to adjust, and provides plenty of light for whatever you need it for. I've set up tents at night with it, skied the Mitchell Trail Loop on Tennessee Pass in Colorado at night with it, as well as numerous night trail hikes. The run time is also excellent--it has never left me "in the dark". I highly recommend this headlamp!

The best color rendition
Most headlights have such terrible optical quality that it is hard to see what you are looking at, even if they are beastly bright, giving a very "Blair Witch" effect on night hikes. This one is rated as among the best in that regard, and it appears to be very good. The low setting is very low and so the colors are dim because the human eye needs a certain level of brightness to see colors well. However it is perfect for around camp and lasts a whopping 120 hours. The medium and high are great, the medium is what you will probably hike with and lasts 12 hours, the high lasts 2 hours. The red light works fine, nothing special but does the job.

NO rechargable battery
I dislike Amazon for posting so many different links to the same item and one has to search through what is and isn't included. Confuse the buyer to increase sales. One has to read the fine print, for example, to realize the reason this lamp is cheaper than the rest is because it doesn't come with a rechargeable battery. This has become worst and worst and any "good price" usually has not readily apparent reasons for why it is a good price. It makes making purchasing decision tougher. Shame on you Amazon.

Excellent performance, but could be comfier
This product has extended my running season which is normally curtailed by the dark British winter evenings. With it I can run though dark countryside on the medium or high light setting. The red light is also great for photography applications. On full power I'd estimate that it offers between 15-20m of illumination. I probably wouldn't recommend it for fast off-road mountain biking unless the track is well known. It's perfect for running though. The light's angle can be modified by clicking up and down, which is very useful. My only complaint is that it's very uncomfortable. It will leave a big rectangle on your forehead if you wear it for more than 5-10 minutes. I purchased a 'JOEYOUNG Fleece headband' from Amazon to go with it - to be honest I wouldn't be able to use the light without something of this description, therefore I think that Petzl should do something to make the rear of the light more comfortable. It's great for housework too - you may think that you don't have any cobwebs until you turn the lights off and peer into the corners using one of these things!

Fantastic head torch for adventures!
I bought this head torch because Petzl have a great reputation and I wanted something that was comfy and effective for when I go on late night walks and hikes in Northumberland. It feels great on and is very comfortable, and the red light, which saves your night-vision a little and prevents you from being unable to see when the head torch is off, works well at short distance. For the white (primary) light, there are 3 settings - basically static, mobile and distance. Statis is the dimmest and is fine for sort of working round the campfire or looking at stuff in your hand, etc., mobile is for when you're actually walking and is strong enough to light up the path ahead, and then distance is the brightest to light up the path or forest to a much higher degree.I think it's ace this and have also bought the rechargeable battery which goes with it; really handy piece of kit!

Incredibly Bright Like A Floodlight
Does everything you’d want, simple operation, clean design, easy to change beam angle, comfortable strap and batteries last a decent amount of time. Generally you can use this on low and mid power, high brightness is soooo bright!Regarding batteries, don’t be tempted to buy the core version when you can get nearly three times the battery capacity with Amazon Basics AAA batteries and USB charger for less.

It does what it says on the tin
This is a versatile piece of kit and does exactly what I need it do; from lighting up tight crannies where there is no light to illuminating my garden at night when I am gathering my pack of dogs. The brightness selection levels are handy (you don't need the high beam all the time) and help manage the battery life. The red lamp does a good job of illuminating near space and helps to eliminate dazzle. I bought this as an emergency tool but have ended up using it as an everyday aid. The light projection adjustment is a nice touch too as it allows you to adjust where the beam is needed without having to move your head up and down. The reason I have not given it 5 stars is common to most tools of this kind, as headgear the lighting tech is light years in advance of the brace/strap. It is not uncomfortable but it does leave a ghost impression you are still wearing it even after removal. Still this is an excellent lamp and when brace tech catches up with the light tech I'll be giving it five stars.Buy with confidence

Bright headtorch, but headband is tight
The torch has 3 white light settings (dim, medium and very bright), plus one red light setting. The batteries last a long time with it and it's well made. Petzl are a good make and its worth paying the extra for their gear.I'd give it 5 stars, but it is let down by the size of the headband. If your hat size is 58 or smaller, you'll be OK, but if your head is any larger, this will be tight on your head and there is no way of adjusting it any larger. hat size 58 is about average head size I think. Measure your head (while wearing winter headgear) before you buy!
