Number & Capital Letter Punch Set 36 Pc (6mm 1/4"): TZ01-09098

I took a chance on buying off-brand punches but am pleasantly surprised! I was looking for this 2.5MM size and I am happy I purchased them. The quality is as good as the major brand most of us 'impress artists' are familiar with. I do wish they were labeled in a way that makes it easy to see the direction of the letter but that's asking a lot for this price point. They impress well with the first hit and the type face is pleasing too. Comes with letters, numbers and a bonus ampersand! Say no more...

We ordered the Size: 3/32" (2.5mm) Alphabet (Uppercase) and received 2 D's and no K. Reached out to the vendor via messages and received a quick resolution and we now have our K. These work beautifully on copper and silver used for jewelry.

I bought this set specifically for putting plant info on plant tags without worrying about the info disappearing. They work well for this purpose, and I have used them on plastic, copper and zinc labels with good success. One feature would make them much more user friendly, and that would be an indent dot in the side of the punch that would insure you were holding the letter/number in the correct position. When working quickly, I have managed to have sideways and upside down letters because all the sides of the punch are exactly the same. These punch letters are 6mm - approx 1/4 inch in size making them easier to read, but the 3mm - approx 1/8 inch set would allow more information on the tag, so you might want to consider which you prefer. Given the very reasonable purchase price and the heavy duty quality of the punches, this was a very good value.

My set arrived in perfect condition. I am a potter, I am using these letter stamps on flat clay pieces. I have discovered that you need to let the clay get to the leather hard stage in order for the letters to make a clean stamp. I have used it on mid fire red clay and white clay. The impressions are clean and crisp. I would recommend this set to compliment any potter's studio.

The numbers are usable except for the number 4. Can't tell if it is meant to be a 4 or an apostrophe. Most of the letter are usuable except for the W and F. So be four you buy this set make sure your name doesn't have a W or F.

The set I received has two identical punches for zero and oh. Perhaps this is an error. I suppose I could ask if I can get the other symbol, but it doesn't matter much for me. I'll just file a diagonal notch in one of those punches to denote zero. I use the punches to generate random bitcoin secret keys. Mix the punches for a minute or two (like a miser sifting through a pile of gold coins), then stamp the 36 character string onto a piece of steel. Voilà, a fireproof record giving me access to my bitcoin. I'm not saying precisely how I compute the actual key from that permutation of 36 symbols. This also works for generating a master password and any other situation where you need a completely unpredictable key together with a fireproof record of it.

Good material. Clean marking on copper, aluminum and soft steel.

stamps clearly...any complaints over them breaking must be due to operator error... If you ever stamp metal, you should always heat the stamping surface anyways... Cold hammering is a bad idea...regardless of how well the tool is tempered.
