There's something about the curved design where she fits in the rounded lower middle and is just comfortable. The item is well made and heavier than I thought (not a cheap product). The siding is smooth and the materials used are the same inside and out, and on all sides, top and bottom. If one side gets worn out, you can easily flip it over and use the other side. The only thing I did notice is in other reviews, they have photos of cats sleeping underneath and inside .. my cat weights 16 pounds and can't fit to sleep inside. However, I put her toys inside and she has a lot of fun reaching in and around to bat the toys out. Despite her being a larger cat, she fits well on top and is really happy with this product. I was so pleased that I purchased one for a friend.
