You really need this to do a good cleaning...

This brush is definitely the same quality I have come to expect from Otis, which is top notch. This brush cleans those very difficult nooks around the chamber very well. I have used this brush for around 200 passes through my AR now and it is still looking like new. I will note that you do need a rod, the Otis pull through system just does not have enough tensile strength to get this all the way into the chamber easily. So if you only have an Otis puck system be sure to build a rod into your cost (a short handgun rod works great). It is a specialty brush and it does cost a lot for what it is, but it works well and it seems like it is going to work for a long time as well. 5 Stars.

Very handy brush. Works well to loosen up all the chamber fouling so it can be cleaned out with a bore snake and an AR cleaning star. I just squirt some Zippo fluid on it, push it in, and rotate it a few times around (Zippo fluid is a decent solvent that evaporates without residue, so you don't have to work hard to then clean out the solvent you just used). The one thing to know is that it fits tightly in the chamber, so you can't just spin the cleaning rod with your fingers. If your cleaning rod has a fixed handle at the end that will work. If the handle spins, you'll need something to grip the cleaning rod so you have enough torque to rotate it. I clamp a pair of vise grips to the cleaning rod and then just rotate the vise grips. Works out great. I don't fault this product for that drawback, so much as the makers of most cleaning rods.

This brush was a throwback to my days on active duty. It worked perfectly, and is solidly built. I bought it during my waiting period (california ten day requirement) and when i got my rifle on the 10th day, i found that my rifle came with a cleaning kit included. The cleaning kit was decent, but the cleaning rods that came with it were not very good and didn't fit this brush at all. Luckily, i already had a standalone kit with bore rods, and they fit this brush perfectly. I would recommend this brush as a replacement for your stock brush after it wears down.

We have used star pads for cleaning the chamber in the past, but wanted to get a bit more aggressive with the build-up. This seemed like just the right additional to our cleaning kit based on reviews. I have the right rod set, cleaners and lube. It is a good tool for the purpose, the bristles do work well to break loose the deep seated grime, but this chamber brush is not perfect. It is incredibly tight, so much so that I worry about marring. Afterwards I noticed several copper bristles left behind in the chamber, laid down tight in the crevices such that a pointy pick was needed to get in there and lift an end allowing tweezers to lift the bristle out. That was an unexpected pain; hopefully that will not be commonplace as the bristles break in a bit and become easier to use. Cleaned well. Had a few issues. Might get better with time. Will come back and revise review if future applications do not show improvement over first use.
