While there is no cure for chronic kidney disease (CKD), studies have shown that it is possible to slow down the auto-destructive cycle of CKD by limiting the amount of phosphorous in the system. Epakitin contains chitosan, a phosphate binder, which limits the absorption of phosphorus from the intestines. Chitosan also reduces urea, creatinine and calcium absorption, without affecting your pet's food consumption. Give 1gm per 10 lbs (5 kg) of body weight in the morning and the evening, mixed with food. Includes 2.5 mg dosing spoon. Allow free access to fresh water during administration. For best results, use in conjunction with a low phosphorous diet. However, Epakitin's highly palatable formulation can be used with regular food if animals refuse to change their diet. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep out of reach of children. For use in cats and dogs.
