This is a cleaning cartridge in the shape of the filter. By contacting the company that makes the ionizer they advised not to use it and use the actual small cleaning cartridge better. They also recommend once a year just take it for a deep cleaning for only $40 which is almost the same cost of this product.

This is the first time I've used a cleaning cartridge for my 1 year old water machine. Easy to use and I can tell the water tastes better again. Received the product very quickly.
