Great inexpensive overdrive
Great sounding articulate overdrive. The bass response is a little too much and lacks mid presence for my taste but the tone is articulate, good pick attack and there is tons of gain on tap. It will chug!

The Sound Is Like a Vox
It does give a Vox-like sound on my Fender amp. It has a nice sturdy housing. I wanted a jingly dirt sound so it delivers.

Fantastic sounding pedal.
Love this pedal. It's my favorite distortion pedal using my strat played through a Fender amp clean channel.

Great voxy tone!!
Watched a video online from some Brits that raved about the build, sound and value. Tones with a similar guitar and amp of mine on video sounded great. Said why not for less than 70 bucks.Got today. Non marked box. No instructions. Pad and Velcro for the bottom of pedal. That's it.Unplugged my boss od-2 with Keeley mod and plugged in the black tea. What a major difference. Where my boss was all high end and gritty, the black tea was chimmy, gain with surprising tone choice.Played my prs SE singlecut through ped into a blackstar ht 20 studio (c winged power tubes and ecc83 preamp tubes with private jack speaker) and makes it as close as a ac-30 and when max gain like the nighttrain pushed. Happy happy!Very warm and tube like. Shocked it sounds better than the Keeley. Will try it cranked with extension cabinet when the wife ain't home.

Very impressed with this little guy's tones! More Black Tea anyone?
I play in a Beatles tribute band and I recently put together a mini pedal board for smaller gigs, benefit gigs, rehearsals, etc. I normally use the Tech 21 Liverpool pedal for my overdriven tones on my big pedal board, so I wanted something in a mini pedal format that would sound pretty close to the Liverpool pedal. The Black Tea is awesome! It absolutely gets me into Vox AC30 amp tone territory. Does it sound exactly like a Vox tube amp? No, of course not. No pedal will do that. But man this pedal sounds and feels great and gets me pretty darn close to Vox-land to my ears and fingers. It's got a rich full tone, plenty of gain, tweakable EQ, and plenty of clean volume head room. You can use it to put just a little bit of dirt in your signal, or crank the gain up past noon which gives you way more gain than a Vox AC30 amp. Works well with my Gretsch Country Classic and Fender Strat guitars. Love it! It's less than 1/3 the size of my Liverpool pedal. Sounds great. I'm so glad I didn't settle for a "plexi" clone mini pedal of which there are tons out there. I didn't want a Marshall tone, I wanted a Vox tone. So glad I discovered this pedal while watching You Tube vids. (Thank You Andertons - Lee and Chappers!) Awesome job Tone City!!! My first Tone City pedal, but maybe not my last.
