No more rats
This past spring an empty house by me was rented out and the resident rats got evicted. About that time this big tree came down in my yard and the rats joyfully took up residence under it. They really liked the amenities of good cover and proximity to a source of food by way of being below my bird feeder. While I do not keep my feeder full the birds do drop enough seed in their twice daily meal times to encourage said rodents to stick around. The rats got fat, the rats got bold. Were often seen scampering joyfully about and brazenly coming out to check the ground under the bird feeder while I watched from above. My yard is a haven for wildlife of many kinds but I draw the line at rats and wanted to evict them... permanently but also did not want to potentially harm the pair of screech owls or the coopoers hawk who often hunt in my yard. Nor did I want to take a chance on the safety of my dogs. So I found this product at Wal-mart and decided to give it a try. I placed some of the pellets in the rats favorite hang out area and watched. A few days went by and not much happened. Eventually I saw that the pile was disturbed, scattered a bit, perhaps a bit smaller and the rats just kept dancing under my nose. So then after reading a lot of reviews here I realized that the product was lacking in flavor so I tried mixing in some peanut butter which rodents universally adore. And this was perceived as a delicious new addition to the local menu and vanished rapidly. But the rats just kept dancing. Then I read that Ratx does not recommend peanut butter because its consistency can inhibit the product from properly adhering to the rat digestive system so I mixed the last of my ratx with some bacon fat I had save and come here to order another bag. And some Peanut-butter powder. On Monday evening I mixed up 1/4 bag with about a tablespoon of powdered peanut butter with just a spritz of water to make it stick. Put that out and it was a rat feast. The pile was all gone in about 2 hours. Today is Monday again. The rats are no longer dancing.Keep in mind that as a reviewer on FB pointed out. 1 pound d of ratex will kill 4 rats. Don't underestimate the number of rats you have. I pretty consistently saw 3 rats in the area of the log playground and assumed there were more because there are always more when it comes to rodents. I used about 2.5 pounds total so far and will be maintain a bait station to mop up any youngsters that may be hanging around. But I think I have it to the point that the owls and the hawks can keep the population under better control now. And I can feel good knowing that they are safe to do so.

Does not work at all
I fed over 10 lbs of this to rats. We started to see them around chicken coop I mixed with freeze dried strawberries and they are it all up. The problem it did absolutely nothing but attract them and now I have more rate than I started with. Do not buy if you see one rat get poison and kill it. We tried to be considerate of other wildlife and secondary poisoning, but the matter of the fact is delaying while using this product created more rats that will now have to be poisoned and greater risk for secondary poisoning.

Works Great
It took some trial and error but was able to use this to successfully eliminate a large group of outdoor rats.I set out a motion activated camera to track progress and have gone from over a hundred rat spottings a night to none.Rats are smart and cautious so I found it helpful to get them used to the idea of the bait area being a food source by throwing out scraps without the Rat X for a few days. I tried a few methods of mixing in the pellets but the best one seemed to be spreading peanut butter on a paper plate and sticking the Rat X on top. I did this every night after dusk until the problem cleared up. Almost every morning, the rats had cleared the entire dish. After several days of no activity, I still have yet to notice any smell.Additionally, no issues of secondary poisoning as promised. A racoon and skunk both went over to the dish of food and were not interested. The only area of concern would be squirrels as they are part of the rodent family which is why it's best to not put the dish out until night time and try and grab it first thing in the morning.Overall, great product. As with all pest control, it depends on the bait used.

Seems to work
My main complaint about this product is the smell. When I open the bag I get a chemical smell. The rats won't eat it unless I mix it with peanut butter. Microwave peanut butter for a minute or so for easy mixing. The rats are eating it, and I do think the numbers are slowly going down. The manufacturer needs to address the fact that this extra step is required to get the rats to eat it. This stuff is pretty expensive, it would be nice if the rats and mice would eat it straight out of bag without having to spend extra time and money mixing it with peanut butter.

Please read my other review
I will not buy this rat poison again it does not perform the way that it is advertised I probably should have asked for a refund if Amazon would have given me one I even followed their instructions about adding an attracted so I got a jar of peanut butter out and white peanut butter all over the discs that I had tied to a piece of wire to keep them from being carried off and being feared to my animals or somebody else's the pellets I did the same thing with them I made up of peanut butter mixture and mix the pellets with the peanut butter they they ate them but I cannot tell whether it killed any of the mice I did not see a decline in their population. I will not buy these again and I cannot recommend them to someone else. You can buy 20 Victor mice traps for about $20 I've been using Victor mice traps for over 50 years they never fail even with the big rat traps I didn't have a rat problem I had a mouse problem the victor which you have to bait them and I use light bread smeared with peanut butter pinch off a piece bait the Trap leave the Trap sitting for three or four days so the bread can dry and the peanut butter and all band together it makes the bait last longer you don't have to bait it as many times just reset the Trap after you remove the mouse cats really love them. LOL thank you Amazon maybe you can send some coupons out. Or possibly a refund $50 costly experience for this product.
