I did not notice any inconsistency in the workmanship. This 100 quantity box is more than I need, but the orange box store’s hardware quality has gone way down hill so I figured my best bet would be these Hillman lag screws. I’ll probably use some of the excess down the road.Judging by no indicators on the screw head these are probably grade 2 screws. Google for more info on screw grades.One note about the photo on Amazon which is consistent with the box and Hillman’s website. The photos show about one fourth of the screw is unthreaded which is not the case. For all practical purposes this is a fully threaded screw. See my attached photos.The 1/4” x 1-1/4 size is relatively short for a lag screw so it may defeat the purpose if your needs are heavy duty and there are less threads. ### ⭐⭐ seemed a bit fragile *by C***G on August 13, 2018* Screws were fine, but seemed a bit soft. I was using them to mount heavy casters on a rolling cart. I installed them in pre-drilled holes using a cordless Dewalt impact driver; I twisted the heads off 3 of 32 screws (10%). I didn't expect a impact driver to twist off 1/4" screws. As I was using them for mounting casters in pre-defined locations, extracting a lag screw without a hex head is not an easy process. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Super quality and price in volume! *by S***G on October 13, 2016* bought 100 1/4 inch x 4" lag screws. Used 60 of them in four wood rails to reinforce metal ramps. pre-drilled holes slight smaller, maybe 3/16". The screws were strong and bit into the wood really nice and tight. I had read a bad review of lag screws, saying the head broke off real easy, but these 1/4" x 4" are thin for the length and they were super. I'd buy these again any time. The ability to buy in volume makes these very inexpensive per screw. Try matching that at a Big Box store! In fact, other sellers on Amazon were not competitive, either.
