Asking for my nephew who is a total beginner and needs something he can use independently.** A: You have to keep in mind this needs to be plugged in with a DAW to control sounds. The MK3 Mini comes with free versions of Ableton and ProTools, I highly recommend Ableton. It also comes with some free instruments, like the Lounge Lizard keyboard plugin. It has a set up guide built in on its website. Your nephew will have to do some research on DAW's and MIDI before he can get started.
