Excellent Part...Very satisfied
After installing in my 98 LS400 my car is running better than ever. No lights on the dash and no drained battery. I've been driving for over a month and no problems. Very good product and shipping was super fast.

It was great while it worked for 9 months
It was great while it worked for 9 months. Then my car didn't start one evening and had to get a jump. I didn't think it would be the alternator as I received the OEM remanufactured and purchased an Optima RedTop at the same time I replaced my old alternator with this one. But sure enough, current draw was 60 mA, so it wasn't something draining the battery. Charging voltage while the car was running was 12.9V. Maybe I just got a bad lot, but very inconvenient nonetheless. I purchased OEM because I didn't want to replace the part frequently as sometimes happens when you get remans from the Auto box stores. Lesson learned as the warranty process will be a hassle.

1999 Lexus LS 400 Dropped right in, a fun puzzle.
Unit came in Denso box and looked brand new. Exact replacement. I felt like I was surgeon replacing an organ on my baby and she responded like she had a new life. Just note, on a 98-2000 you need to remove/replace from under the hood while accessing bolts from underside and top, you will get it. Pull the fan and shroud, fan bolts are too fun, leverage joke, drain some coolant so you can move the top hose to the left. Remove plug and main wire from underside, the oval plug has a fun lock that was a b*tch. Dropped in no problem, serpentine belt repositioning is available online, you will get it. Overall a fairly easy but challenging puzzle that went smoothly. Crazy how all the electronics acted like they were in the presence of an alien spacecraft as in "Close Encounters" when the old alternator finally went at 200K. So good so far. Still love this car, becoming a true classic.

Alternator worked for two days...
I inconveniently replaced this alternator two days before I left for a work trip to Japan. My Lexus LS400 was running fine before I left. However, right when I got off of the plane two days later, I received a call from my girlfriend saying that all of the lights were flashing in the car and none of the power options were functioning (steering wheel, windows, etc.) I had to be in Japan for a month... and now it seems as though I'm unable to return the damn part. So unless someone can inform me otherwise it's feeling like I got taken for $170.

Went with a rebuilt alternator from USA Industries and it was complete crap. Lasted for approximately 1 month when all of the sudden my interior lights started flashing when I was driving I turned off all my electronics and the AC was off, when i came to a stop, boom, car battery light and engine died. I did some research and found that USA industries alternators are actually rebuilt from cheap parts overseas.Shipping for the alternator just to send it back was around $40-60 so I decided to purchase something OEM that would give me peace of mind. Unless you are going with a reputable company who builds high output alternators or a local company you can deal with I would stick to whoever your OEM manufacturer is. Bought the Denso and so far everything has been golden, no weird noises and the voltage is where it should be.

only lasted 24 months or 30,000 miles
I bought the best OEM model (also most expensive) available but unfortunately this only lasted for about 2 years or 30,000 miles. This is an easy enough repair that I can do it myself but this should really last at least 80,000 miles and often times much more. I am skeptical of after market parts but since I am not alone in this experience maybe aftermarket is the way to go!?

Satisfied
Decided to go for this OE remanufactured unit instead of taking a chance from other sources. I was happy with the initial appearance, as it really did look like a clean, new unit. I was even more happy to see mine was remanufactured in the USA. Installed this on a 1998 Lexus LS400, which is running well now.UPDATE: Still working over 6 years later.
