Barking up the right tree.
I had to cross cut saw living edge walnut shelving. I used this product on the bark to make it adhere better to the underlying board. Applied two coats and my cuts did not knock off the bark! Great product- just be careful as it does stain the wood it touches!

Overall Good Product โ Easy to Apply
I ordered about a dozen cans to use for restoring several pieces of aged outdoor furniture. Itโs easy to apply, clear with the consistency of water. You can go through the cans pretty quickly, though, especially if you apply several coats, making it a potentially expensive proposition to use this product. I donโt know if I used it improperly or didnโt prep the wood well enough beforehand, but I found that it muddied up the woodgrain a little bit, leaving me with pieces that were stronger but perhaps not as beautiful as before. As Iโve seen in some other reviews, the screw cap (which ordinarily would not give anyone a second thought) was quite frustrating. For many of the cans, it was impossible to unscrew it without using pliers and for others even pliers wouldnโt work โ I had to use wire cutters to nip away at the plastic safety cap and peel it off so that I could get to the easier to use metal cap underneath. I use cheap, disposable brushes so that I donโt have the messy cleanup.

The right tool for the right job - makes soft, mushy wood hard again!
This is an excellent example of getting the "right tool for the right job".... I had a wicker garden sofa that had been moved from the patio to the grass...and needless to say, the wood posts within the wicker became soft and rotten in very short order. I was going to just toss the whole thing when this idea came to me: fill up a tin can with the Wood Hardener and place each leg in the can. So i gave each leg and good proper soak in the wood hardener, and then did it again, and VOILA!! The legs are LIKE NEW. Firm and hard, no more mushy soft legs! (of course, I immediately moved it onto the deck where that won't happen again.) Miracle stuff!!

Really hardens rotted wood and allows repair.
This product is used to stabilize punky or slightly rotted wood. I use in wood turning when I want to stabilize a piece that has interesting color but is a bit soft. The hardener will soak in and must be allowed to dry before using. I have also used it for repairs (house, e.g. window frames usually on the bottom where water has caused some damage. Once the liquid has dried the wood has hardened and can be repaired if needed with corresponding filler product, sanded and refinished. Drill first if using screws. Liquid is very sticky and can be brushed on. I use two "coats" when the damage is extensive. The filler drys very hard so try to get the filling smooth and use two fillings if damage is deep.

Amazing Stuff
I was doing a repair project for my wifeโs wooden porch swing. The arm rests had quite a bit of rot with one I thought would need replacing. I heard about Minwax Wood Hardener so I thought Iโd give it a try before ripping pieces apart. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it actually worked. I followed the directions and it is amazing how stable the wood became. It took a little effort to shape one of the rests after applying a wood filler but with patience and a good sanding I got it right. I applied the hardener to one seat slat and a few other spots and itโs like concrete! I actually placed a couple of screws through some areas and itโs holding up. It saved me from having to buy limber and making saw cuts. You can even paint over it. Very satisfied.

Dries fast
The best for stabilizing rotten wood before turning.

Worked for my project
I messed up the inside of my kitchen cabinet by using diluted vinegar to clean the shelves made out of pressed wood. The vinegar made the pressboard crumble. The wood hardener was the first step in "re-sealing" the boards. It took two coats to see a noticeable change in the shedding of "saw dust." The smell was HORRIBLE! I recommend buying a respirator with the applicable cartridge if you are using this indoors. I let each coat dry (with lots of cross ventilation!) for two hours before moving on to the next step (sanding, Seal Coat, sanding, Polyurethane).

Expensive juice
Yep it worked

expensive but it works
It does a good job of solidifying punky wood, and dries fast. It took half a can to deal with four picnic table legs, so it's not cheap.
