My mom, who is 96 years needs a purse size magnifier to read the fine rx print, would this suffice? thank you.

It what I gave to my 90 year old mom and she loves it because she doesn't have to put glasses on which bumps her hearing aids loose. She takes this magnifier out of her purse in a store to read fine the print on merchandise packages.

Would these work outdoors. To help start a campfire with the power of the sun?

This is how all magnifiers work. If you lay the magnifier right on the page, the light passing through it doesn't have any distance to cause magnification. Short answer, no. You have to lift the magnifier off the page to get magnification. It is this way with all magnifiers.
