Frye Women's Melissa Button 2 Riding Boot

I waited until I saw my size available for under $200 to finally take the plunge and get my very first pair of FRYE boots. I was apprehensive based on other feedback, but boy am I glad I did it!The calf width issue was my biggest concern. Frye shows the extended calf has a width of 15.5" and I was afraid it'd be too tight. For reference, here is my experience with other boots: - I don't usually wear wide calf. My default is standard width. - Standard Hunter boots (15" circumference) are a tad too tight for me. - Sam Edelman standard boots are just right for me, except if I'm wearing heavy denim. They have a stretchy band that makes them more forgiving. Their wide calf is too wide.The calf width on these is perfect for me right out of the box. Not too snug, not too loose. Ideal with thinner denim, but would probably stretch to be ideal with thicker denim too.The foot is a little narrower than most shoes, so wide-footed ladies will want to pass. I am a size 10M in most shoes (9.5 in some brands or styles) and the 10 fit perfectly.Another criticism I have read about these particular boots is that, without the help of a zipper, they are hard to get off your foot. Personally, I have no issues whatsoever getting these on and off.I will say there is ZERO tread on the soles so they are SLICK at first (I kept slipping on carpet!). I've read some people get rubber soles applied to theirs, others scuff them before wearing. I will see if natural wear on the soles will improve the traction before taking them to the cobbler for more drastic action.In all, I was nervous to try them due to the cost, but was glad I did. The quality seems really good and I feel like they will last a long time. Color is true to the photo. So glad to finally have a pair of these!

Beautiful boots, didn't fit so I processed a return. When the refund came in it had an almost 20% restocking fee! Nowhere in the listing is there a restocking fee, or in the return process. Theifs!

I love them so far! They arrived much earlier than the time frame today. They were tough to get past the heel which was exactly as expected after reading the reviews but I was so pleasantly surprised that the calf fit exactly how it was supposed to based on their sizing and my own measurement. I'm a little over the 15.5 extended calf but they only fit snugly, not tight at all! I've been steadily and gradually losing weight for months so, wont be too much longer and they will be a little looser anyway from that alone and wearing them often will help stretch them more because the leather quality is awesome. I was nervous after I ordered them because of reading other reviews on the internet that some arent authentic when you dont buy from an authorized seller but, I checked them over and looked for signs and they seem to be. Would rather of gotten a pair from the US but, for all I know even those are outsourced. Mine say made in Mexico and from what I've read frye now has factories in China and Mexico. I just got them today so, I will update if anything goes wrong. I'm not sure about a warranty either, I'll have to look because they came from zappos to amazon. The price was so good and they were going so fast that i snatched them up. I debated whether to open an amazon account or not to get them because I wanted them so bad. I convinced myself to apply and got the amazon account and treated myself, lol. They are however, on sale today for the same price directly from the Frye website. I would order from them if I had that much cash available for one purchase but I dont and these are authentic so I'm happy!

I had been looking for a good quality leather boot that was wide calf. I was tired of quality that was being presented for wide calf boots and I did not want the zipper in the inside. The zipper either had to be in the back or not there at all.After searching for some time I had narrowed down my selection to a few different brands. I was really attracted to this style. It fit all of my requirements. Real leather, wide calf, and no zipper.After reading several product reviews about how this boot was not wide calf for some people, but fit fine for others, I was a bit skeptical. I eventually found this boot and other brands I had been researching in a local department store. I needed to try on these boots before I bought them online ( the store did not carry the color I wanted and it was a bit cheaper too).I tried on the extended calf. For my left foot, the calf area fit perfect. I knew it would because of a sports injury that caused me to loose some muscle. But my right calf, that was bit of a chore. It mad much tighter and definitely NOT wide calf at all. I was able to make it work, but I knew the leather would eventually soften and give way a bit and I could not gain any weight! The actually foot area was a lot more roomy than it needed to be. It was was closer to a 10 than a 9.5. I’m not petite by any means nor am I huge. I’m a solid semi-athletic build. And these boots are pushing it if you have muscular calves and built close to Serena Williams.With that being said I went ahead with the purchase on Amazon. I absolutely love the boots. I wish they would have added more space in the calf area and not so much in the foot area. But overall not a bad buy. I know they will last me for years to come!

Comfortable, and they look great. Would not be suited for people with wider feet or calves. They fit me perfectly but I have narrow feet and very slim calves.

I love the boots! From the rich colour, beautiful leather, fit to the way I feel wearing them. Sexy!

L'utilisation est pour le port intérieur et extérieur en automne. Les bottes sont magnifiques. Par contre, la semelle est glissante et j'ai fait ajouter un antidérapant chez le cordonnier.

I received a pair of boots that were clearly bought buy someone else first and then returned, because they were already scuffed on bottom. Although the boots fit me perfectly and look new everywhere else, I am not impressed with the fact that I was sent an open boxed pair without my knowledge. When I buy new, I expect something brand new to arrive.
