delicious, if a bit predictable
My guilty secret is I love a good Danielle Steel book. This one cheered me as I nursed a cold, so I had time to read quickly. I fell in love with the three main characters. It’s a great read.

Certainly Not Among Ms. Steel's Best Novels
I am an avid Danielle Steel fan, but I did not like this novel. One of the things that irked me was how repetitive she was. She treated her readers like we're dumb and can't follow a story because she felt the need to go into grand detail way too many times on simple points. Yes, we understood that Simon wanted to go back to Megan and see what could be done, but Ms. Steel kept drilling that point into our heads several times, along with Blaise's relationship with Andrew and the negative effect it had on her. It was too much and I got tired of reading the same thing over and over. The book was predictable as well. Duh, we knew Simon was gonna somehow change the lives of Blaise and Salima. Duh, we knew either Blaise and Simon or Salima and Simon were gonna fall in love. Duh, we knew Blaise was became pregnant by Simon when Ms. Steel pressed the point that they had sex without contraception and that Blaise just kneeew she wasn't gonna get pregnant because of her age. That was a dead ringer that even with her age, she'd end up pregnant. And duh, we knew Simon would end up going back to Blaise. What would have been a real surprise or a real twist in the story is if Susie Q would have really taken Blaise's spot. Not to say I was rooting for that, but it at least would have added some shock to the story because Danielle Steel made Blaise McCarthy such a perfectly perfect goddess who was so perfect that she couldn't be any more perfect, we wouldn't have thought that she would be knocked off her throne. Overall, I was not impressed with this novel. I only finished it because I paid for it. It was dragging and boring and repetitive.

I highly recommend this book. Most enjoyable.
From the very beginning I was taken into the lives of Blaise,Simon and Salima. Blaise is a very successful morning TV host and in order to keep her show she had to work extremely hard and forfeited a lot including sending her 8 year old daughter to a school away from home due to the fact that she went blind at that.age and Blaise's marriage failed.Due to Salima's caregiver, Abby, taking ill and dying Blaise had to take Salina to stay at home. A new caregiver was sent home with her. They were not happy about it to start with be cause it was a male caregiver but in no time he proved his worth in gold as he got Salima to become independent and to follow her passion to sing.Simon returned to the school for the blind where he was a teacher in the country but soon released that wanted to be in New York with Blaise and Salima.I enjoyed the story and could picture each character, place and situation..

Blind kids don't need caretakers!
As a teacher of blind kids, it was a little hard at times to read this book. The use of the word "stick" (for the long white cane that blind people use) drove me nuts even though it was only used once (so far) near the front of the book. The need of a caretaker for a blind girl, even one with diabetes, is so demeaning and old fashioned that it was torture for me to read the first part of the book. I will finish it, because it's Danielle Steel and I've read just about all of her books. I just wish someone from the board of National Federation of the Blind could have contributed to this book, before it was published. Her books are usually very well researched.
