I’ve bought 3 of these now because unfortunately I lost 2! It’s my favorite water bottle by far over the years. It’s not too coppery taste like and beats a plastic or toxic bottle any day. The design, lighter weight and durability keeps bringing me back each time I loose one!

I’ve had this bottle for a while now, and overall I really like it. Having worked in plumbing and handled a lot of copper pipe and fittings, I did my best to assess the manufacturer’s claim about the material. As far as I can tell without laboratory testing, this appears to be genuine copper rather than simply a copper-colored bottle. The interior, exterior, threads, rim, and areas that have naturally scratched or oxidized all behave consistently with copper. I have also scratched and sanded small areas on both the exterior and interior and did not expose an obviously different metal underneath. See the attached photos. That said, anyone buying a copper bottle should understand that copper is a reactive metal. It will darken, develop spots and uneven discoloration, and change appearance surprisingly quickly. Mine developed dark areas and oxidation inside, particularly around the bottom, while the exterior changes color from handling, water, and condensation. This is not a maintenance-free stainless-steel bottle that will look identical six months from now. A few things I wish I had known before buying a copper vessel: It requires regular cleaning. How often will probably depend on your water, how frequently you use the bottle, and how long water sits inside it. I use lemon or lime juice periodically to clean tarnish from the interior, followed by a very thorough water rinse. For ordinary cleaning, I use dish soap around the rim, threads, and cap. Water also tastes different depending on how long I leave it in the bottle. Fresh water consumed relatively quickly has little or no metallic taste to me, while water left much longer develops a noticeably stronger metallic character. I would be skeptical of anyone claiming there is one scientifically perfect storage time for everyone. Copper leaching depends on more than time alone, including the chemistry of the water, and more copper is not automatically better. The exterior texture is worth considering. Copper is a relatively soft metal, so expect scratches and dings with actual use. I think this particular textured design hides wear better than a perfectly smooth, mirror-finished bottle would. Cold water can also cause condensation on the exterior, and I have noticed that droplets left sitting on the copper can leave temporary or persistent dark spots. That’s part of owning an uncoated reactive metal vessel, not necessarily evidence of a defective bottle. Pay particular attention to the rim, cap, threads, and handle attachment points. These areas can hold moisture and residue and deserve more attention than simply shaking cleaning solution around the interior. I have found that keeping these areas clean and allowing the bottle to dry thoroughly between uses reduces odor and buildup. One design quirk worth knowing about is that moisture or cleaning solution can become trapped around the handle mounting holes. After cleaning mine, I found green copper corrosion residue coming from one of these openings. In my case, this occurred after experimenting with a cleaning method harsher than I would now recommend, so I cannot blame the bottle alone. However, the handle design does create a difficult-to-rinse crevice, and owners should be aware of it. As for health benefits, I would keep expectations realistic. I personally drink more water because I enjoy using the bottle, and better hydration has been the most obvious benefit for me. Copper does have documented antimicrobial properties, and studies have found reductions in certain bacteria when contaminated water is stored in copper vessels, but I would not treat a copper bottle as magic or as a substitute for proper water treatment. I would also recommend being conservative when cleaning it. Stick to mild methods suitable for copper, rinse thoroughly, and avoid improvising with aggressive chemicals. Strong cleaners can create more problems than they solve, particularly because liquid can enter small crevices around the handle attachments and other joints. Overall, I still like the bottle. It has a distinctive look and feel, and the fact that copper changes and develops character is part of the appeal for me. Just buy it knowing that real copper requires more attention than stainless steel. If you want something inert, maintenance-free, and visually unchanged over time, this probably isn’t for you. If you specifically want a copper vessel and understand its quirks, I’ve been happy with mine.

Beautiful craftsmanship and the water tastes great.

Used this consistently for a week and my water started to have a really disgusting flavor and looked in to see this, which I know could be normal with copper, but I wasn’t ready for what it would do to the taste of my water. The coloring is also ruined after a week… too much work for me… I didn’t think copper bottles required this much maintenance.

This is a great light weight water hauler. The copper keeps beverages cool without ice. Tightens well and seals without leakage. Resist using the loop to tighten the lid as copper is a soft metal but durable for this use. Love this product and is my go to for walks.
