The Killing Kind

I think it should be wrong to enjoy books like this so much, but Mr Phelps writes his true crime novels in such a way that you DO enjoy reading them, usually much later into the night than you planned, telling yourself just another few pages and you'll hit the sheets. This is the 3rd book in a row of his I've read, I started reading book one, & part way through went and stocked up on a few more, I think I'll be reading them until I've read the lot, then join the rest of his fans anxiously waiting on his next release. If you like true crime then you will LOVE any of his books, this one most certainly included.

This is an excellent read by M
This is an excellent read by M. William Phelps. It's very well written with events in order. A true story about one of the most manipulative murderers I have ever read about set in the mountainous backwoods of North Carolina. It's also an extremely sad story of utter hopelessness for the inhabitants of the region itself. Danny Hambree is a most vile individual with absolutely no regard for humanity as a whole who takes despicable advantage of desperate women and children and leaving in his wake, a horrified and shocked small southern community where people think these things only happen in the big cities. And as a reader, that's what you will be thinking as you shake your head saying this can't be happening in those beautiful Appalachian mountains. I have been traveling through this region for 30 years and I will never look at Kings Mountain the same again, ever! Wait until you read what he does to the ADA on his case that throws not only the legal community into a tailspin, but also the good citizens of Gastonia NC. The ending sent chill bumps literally from the souls of my feet all the way up to the top of my ears. Just read it!!!

Another great book from Mr. Phelps
M. William Phelps has a way of finding those stories that make you want to punch someone in the face. They are true and raw and tragic, but with a lot of research and consideration to the victims and survivors. This book is true to the authors style with attention to detail and the effort made in finding the facts is obvious. He also offers the convicted a chance to tell their story without letting him/ her take over the story. I felt so sad for the victims in this book even before they met the jerk who took away their chance at a better life. This "person" not only assisted in keeping them addicted to their vices, but had the audacity to use those vices as an excuse for what he did to them. If you are interested in true crime then I highly recommend this book. I am rarely shocked by the actions of others, especially in a true crime book, but I am often appalled by narcissistic behavior--- and the killer in this book is one of biggest narcissists of them all.

Evil personified
As always, Mr. Phelps drew me in and wouldn't let me out until I closed the Kindle on this story. The murderer was just evil personified. Another character I would gladly have throttled. The family of the victims continued to suffer emotionally even after this monster was in prison. Taunting the justice system, the police, and just about everyone else.Using drugs as the carrot, the females in his life traded sex to keep the supply flowing. All the while humiliating, mocking, and eventually killing them, and disposing them like the trash he thought they were. And then laughing about it.He thought he was smarter than everyone else, but that was to be his undoing. When you've finished this story, be sure to check the Internet for updated details. You won't be disappointed with this one.

Well written
This book is about the horrible murders of two beautiful young women. As terrible as the crimes were, the author (William Phelps) did a very good job telling their stories. The book is well written and easy to read. There were no "filler" pages, which is a pet peeve of mine. It was straight forward and interesting. Well done Mr. Phelps! This is a book I would recommend to anyone who enjoys true crime.

Very interesting story. Well written. Easy to read. This murderer is such a piece of crap !! So hard to believe these pretty girls would even ride in the same car with him, let alone have sex with him. Omg !!!! Phelps does a good job telling this story.

This is the first book that I've read written by this author. Can't wait to read more. This book was well researched and very well written. The author did extensive interviews with the people he wrote about. He truly can write and he knows how to keep the reader involved. Great readingIf you have time to read only one book this summer, please read this one
