Good starter .
Other than the gears need meshing a little better everything was great. Using chat GPT I pretty much tore the whole thing down and rebuilt it just to be sure I could. Still works great for the record . Only issue is the heat sink seems to be sealed to the motor so it's hard to get to the bracket in the back. Got a flexible drill bit coming so we will be over that little hurdle soon enough. Good starter and it's faster than you would think so be mindful if you're not used to it .

Impressive!
First of all I want to say this is an awesome value. I was in this hobby around 10 years ago and what you get for the money now is just insane. You couldn't get into this hobby without dropping at least 200 on a car then another 50+ for a crappy battery and charger back in the day. This comes with everything except batteries for the radio. Yeah the charger is crappy and the battery is a NIMH but for entry level it is still something that works and you can at least have some fun without spending more money.Personally I bought this "used" (open box) on prime day so it was only like 90 bucks, I bought an imax b6 lipo charger, GoolRC 60a brushless kit, and a 2s 8000mah lipo and a 3s 4200mah lipo. All in all I spent around 200 to have all the rc car I could possibly handle. This thing is durable let me just say that. 3s is wayyyy too much power, this thing moves though and can definitely handle the power mechanically (even with some very gnarly crashes). With the 2s 8000mah battery I get about a half hour of run time with this setup in gravel and light/medium grass.I do have a couple gripes with it though. The rear bumper tends to get stuck in the rear tires, the mud flaps fall off (I just ended up throwing them away), and I stripped the stock steering servo. Redcat sells a direct replacement high torque metal gear steering servo for like 15 bucks btw. Almost all of these issues were a result of some rough crashes. I also have to mention it took a bit more disassembly than I would have liked it to swap the motor. You must remove the rear control arms to get good access to the motor and even then it's pretty tight. Just make sure you get your gear mesh right and you'll only need to do it once (or never if you keep it stock). All in all I've spent a lot less time working on it and spent a lot more time having fun with it than I thought I would. It's also a great way to exercise your dog!

For the price, not bad
There is a surprisingly good amount of metal in this truck, working on it is a bit of a pain but not impossible by any means, bumpers are flimsy and beware scale isn't exactly 1:10 neither, so if you buy this for your kid and want him to learn on a track, this isn't what to buy... I upgraded a few parts, servo, motor, and got small washers that don't interfere with the bearings to tighten the wheels up and it's a fun basher, lots of parts available and shares same parts front to back

Best thing on the market for sure
I love this car ease to use all the functions come ready out the box. This has lasted me longer then most things on Amazon. Very quite when is comes to noise level. The battery lasted as long as expected 15 to 20 mins.Suggestions: buy the upgrades to the aluminum parts 10psc 88$ different site. I wouldn't upgrade the tie rods. Because plastic is more forgiving then aluminum and cheaper. Buy screw extractor 9$ good to have if you are into rc cars. Upgrade battery compartment area. I run 6200mah last me 45 min to an hour on one battery

Customer service
My son wanted to spend his Christmas money to get an rc car. I saw the red cat products and thought this truck would be a good beginner car. Something better then the walmart cars. It worked well for awhile during beginning of covid. Then as as the weather warmed up little, the car sat a little more. We used it ever other week or so until one day it would did nothing. I left the battery on the charger over night. Nothing. I changed the outlets and still nothing. I checked all the wires and the plugs. Nothing. I then contacted someone from red cat. He told me it would get taken care of and to complete a warranty request. I did this a few days later. After a few days of waiting, I was emailed a denial letter stating that the truck was out of the warranty period. To be fair, it was by a few weeks. But during the pandemic, we didnt go anywhere. I emailed the first guy again and he gave me a checklist to go through. I did and nothing worked. I think there is an issue with the motor. So in the end, my son lost his own money that he saved. I understand the warranty and the time frame for the warranty but during a time of the early stages of all the lock downs, we didn't risk going out in public. I won't buy red cat again.
