The Shining 4K Ultra HD Limited Edition Steelbook / Extended Version / Import / Includes Region Free Blu Ray

Classic horror / psychological thriller, looks surprisingly good in blu-ray considering it's age and darker visuals. I was glad to find this the extended US version, which adds some extra, interesting scenes here and there to flesh out the story more. Great cinematography, use of modern / contemporary classical music to enrich the disturbing, unpredictable nature of the film and of course a thrillingly, uninhibited performance by Jack Nicholson.

Probably many people have already seen this classic horror from Steven King - The Shining.However, although I have seen it on a couple of occasions, I decided to watch it again.It is still quite haunting for it's day and the acting is perfect. "Here's Johnny" is probably one of the most known quotes from any horror movie. It is as edge of the seat now as it has always been and I would definitely recommend to anyone who may not have seen this, give it a watch.It goes without saying that this has got to be amongst the best horror movies ever made.

It's only quite recently that I first watched this old movie for the first time back to back, and I have to say - its absolutely wonderful, but in a very unique way that is very surrel and greatly disconnects your mind from the rest of the world in a very immervive effect. You can feel that uniqueness of Kubricks' movies just like in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The hotel has a very beautiful retro interior design decor (just like the one in Yosimite National Park), and immersive and creepy soundtracks, and of course that classic early 80s feel. A highly recommend motion picture to watch. By the way this is the shortened European version, to which I prefer (and also Kubrick himself also prefer's his shortened version).

I've seen this movie many times over the years, but this time I watched it with my OH, who hadn't seen it before. He loved it, and I have to say that I still enjoy it just as much as ever, even decades later. I'm sure everything that could be said about this movie has already been said by other reviewers. It's just a great film. Watch it.

What a movie, definitely up there with Kubricks best works, i know Stephen King hated this version of his book but wow as a movie this is a masterpiece of horror and all the actors involved were definitely robbed at the 1980's oscars that is for sure. This is easily one of my favourite horrors along with Evil Dead 2, The Thing and American Werewolf In London. 10/10.

Watched it for a second time, I just don't get this film. Nothing makes sense, no one seems like a real person. Giving it 2 stars because the long tracking shots with Danny's tricycle are pretty tense and well done. Just go read the book if you want a far better scary and emotional story.

Love Kubrik's work but this was just utter garbage from Stephen King yet again. I can see why i never watched it in 40yrs and won't ever again. Absolute rubbish.
