I should put my tools in a bag or make several trips up and down the ladder so the descent is more gentile for my tools. But, I am often tired and just rake the stuff off the roof onto the ground. My last quality calk gun lasted many years despite my abuse. Ultimately, the handle grip broke from a good drop. But, I really like this SolidWork as a replacement. It feels good in the hand and is more ruggedly built than the last. It works smoothly and the barrel rotates, so if you cut a bevel on the caulk tube's tip, you can make fine adjustment to get your bead right. The blue and black paint motif is even pleasing to the eye.

I am caulking an entire house using a thick clear caulk. My 8 :1 caulking gun required all of my hand strength and was very slow. My new SolidWork gun is absolutely a pleasure to use, requiring only one finger (or thumb) to squeeze the handle. I am able to accomplish 10 times the work and my hands don't ache anymore. The gun is very well made and very solid.Regarding some of the negative comments: It doesn't have a tube tip cutter like the cheap guns because of the handle design, no big deal.You will need to press the release lever to stop the flow of caulking, it doesn't automatically stop like some guns. No big deal.I love this caulking gun and I wish I would have known about it a long time ago. 24 :1 is a huge improvement for thick caulk. I probably won't use it for latex caulk or other thin caulking because the gun would probably dispense way too fast.
