Excellent read!
This book is an extremely valuable asset to any bookcase. It is very thorough in explaining all of the different aspects of piercing including aftercare, and how piercings affect your everyday life. Angel has done a terrific job in providing what is, in my opinion, the most comprehensive, and complete book dealing with piercings.I can safely recommend this book to a wide range of people from piercees, and potential piercees to parents, and the medical community - people who come into contact with piercings on a daily basis. The book is very informative and is written in a very accessible albeit conservative tone which I feel makes it an easy read for people from all walks of life. Everybody is sure to learn something from this book - maybe even piercers! The illustrations are excellent, very clear and easy to follow as well. Angel includes many useful tips including the use of emu oil and tips on changing jewellery which I personally found very helpful! Any query you may have regarding piercing will most likely be answered in this book! This book would make a lovely Christmas present this season for anybody with an interest in piercing.I feel that Elayne Angel has done a great service to the piercing community by writing this book as it is so educational and concise, yet enjoyable. A definate 5 stars here!

which made it so I couldn't get piercings for like 8 months
I got my first ear piercings at 16, and ever since then I have been dyingggg to get more. I went on an intense acne medication, accutane, which made it so I couldn't get piercings for like 8 months. In the mean time, I have been trying to convince my mom to let me get more as soon as the 8 months are up.Right now I'm just thinking about getting one or two more lobe piercings on each ear, but in the future I think I was some sort of cartilage piercing, like forward helix, a bellybutton piercing maybe, and possibly even a nose piercing. These are just ideas though, and I wanted to read more about piercings and really figure out what the risks and care commitments would be for these things. This book is really informative, and it gives educated advice on the whole process of getting a piercing. From deciding what you want, through after care. I learned not to go back to Claire's to get a gun piercing, and to get it done with a needle. This book explains exactly what the commitment is for each different piercing, what to do for after care, and how long it takes to heal. It also talks about risks, which has definitely made me think more carefully about what piercings I desire, and how much work I'm willing to put in.Every question anyone could have about the piercing process is answered in this book. I read it cover to cover and I think I am wiser for it. I mainly bought this book to show to my mom that I'm responsible and doing the research, and I think that she was impressed at how informed I now am. I'm not sure if I completely won her over, but even if I didn't I am glad that I read it. I may have to wait till I'm 18 to get another piercing, but I will know exactly where to go and what to do.

Highly informative and a truly devoted author
This was so informative when I was thinking about finally getting some piercings. I've known people who've just gone to any old place and have had infections afterwards...either from an inexperienced piercer, the wrong jewelry, or improper aftercare so I was nervous to get pierced for a long time. I didn't know where to go or where to start to make sure I was making the right decisions. After reading The Piercing Bible, I felt much more confident knowing what to look for in a piercer's work space (it should be set up and be as clean as a doctor's office), what to ask when I was choosing a piercer, how to properly care for new piercings and choosing the right jewelry for a new piercing. This book tells you EVERYTHING and I love that if there's still something you are unsure of before or after being pierced, Elayne has a website with much more information and she is also available for personal consultations if you have had a piercing mishap. If anyone mentions they want a new piercing, I highly recommend this book now and tell them to find a REAL and experienced piercer- not someone who watched a video at the mall and was handed a piercing gun!

A good book to have around
I bought this as a piece of reference material to have around my house, I'm a devoted piercee and piercer, although not in a professional setting. It is informative, has some good illustrations, and is clear and concise. It is definitely written for the prospective piercee, not the piercer, so if your looking for a really deep and informative how-to or info guide to being the piercer, you will need more. However, this is a good edition to any piercer and piercee's library and is definitely worth the money and 2 hours it took to read. It does lack in some of the more wild or advanced techniques, mainly the biopsy-punch method of microdermals and piercing for pulls/suspensions, but those could be books on their own.

The Best Of The Best
As a nurse and soon to be someone getting my first piercing, I found this book to answer all my questions. This was written by a true arties, and love for her work. The advice made me feel comfortable in doing this. WE as nurses read a lot of medical books, and use it to advice our patients, this is the one and only book a would recommend to anyone thinking of getting a piercing. It is clear and gives something no other book does. It gives you the time it will take to recover, what size you will need, care for the site, and so much more. I'm glad I turned to her for my answers. This is well written book, and easy to understand. I give this my highest praise, and feel this book belongs with the best of medical book. Elayne Angel, even the Greek physician Hippocrates who is known as "the father of medicine" would agree, you are a true practitioner. Bravo!
