Don’t fool yourself into believing these are just for Metallica fans…
This pick could be renamed the Ultex Sharp 2.0 (James Hetfield actually helped design the Ultex Sharp, but then after it got released he wanted to add a few more modifications to it resulting in this pick). It’s got the same great bright ultex tone and speed/ precision like the Ultex Sharp, but this pick has a slightly better grip on it. It can be used for any music that demands precision and speed with a bright tone, most notably metal, jazz, blues, and progressive rock, and it’s great for both rhythm and lead guitar; it's definitely not just for Metallica fans. I also like how ultex picks tend not to wear down as fast compared to nylon or tortex picks. The only downsides to this pick are that it costs slightly more than the regular Ultex Sharp, and there are less sizes to choose from; kinda wished there was a 1.40 mm size. If Dunlop released this type of pick, but in a jazz 3 XL shape (that shape is slightly smaller than a regular-sized pick, but not as small as the regular jazz 3 size) with 0.90 mm, 1.14 mm and 1.40 mm sizes to choose from, that would be hands-down my favorite guitar pick.I tend to cycle around a bunch of different picks, but I keep coming back to this pick a lot; extremely versatile pick. Give it a try if you either like using jazz 3-style picks, or the ultex sharps, and need a better grip on your pick.

I like them
I'm new, so what do I know? That said, I like the feel of these in my hand. They aren't textured, but have a nice grip to them.

Great response
Not too thick, but sturdy enough. Been getting into heavier picks as I progress and play. I was a fan of a Clayton, sharp pick but it was discontinued. I’m happy I found this pick which is durable with just the right point for speed. I also like the attack, often subdued with softer plastics.

New favorite!!
These have become my go to guitar pick. Its large in size compared to some of my other picks which I like and has a very pointy tip which helps with my accuracy. Also I tried the black fang along with about 5 other picks and I swore the black fang had a more punchy sound compared to the others. Another thing to add is I also tried the hetfield white fang picks which is also a very nice pick but they added little grippy dots which I dont like because it makes it harder for me to adjust my fingers on the pick due to my fingers sticking to the dots. With that being said I'm sticking with the black fangs.

Buy a lot cause I know I get extremely bummed when one wears down or I lose it
As a bass player who play and eclectic range of genres I’m always switching and searching for the the right go to pick for everything. I really want to love the tiered .73 standard but honestly the color is the only reason I don’t. I know they have black options of those but to me they just aren’t as good. These black fang ultex however are all around better than the previous selection I mentioned, the sharp tip and unbeatable long lasting quality have made these for now my standard go to for anything. Even the .94 I’ve generally struggled with thicker picks like .88 (I know I know I’m not good unless I use a .88 or thicker pick), but the .94 of this model I can’t describe they’re magical it’s almost as if I’m a better player with these.

Amazing Picks! Long Lasting, Nice Tip and Just Enough Flex and Stiffness!
Dunlop's Ultex material is fantastic and Hetfield's signature "Black Fang" picks really make the most of it! These picks are comfortable, grippy and last well.I have tried all versions of the Black Fang and found that the .94mm version really gives the perfect blend of flex with some added stiffness for stronger sounding notes and increased accuracy during fast runs and solos. The overall size and shape will be very familiar to any classic Dunlop Tortex user, but the tip is a bit more modern, nicely pointed and has smooth bevels which really maximize control during transitions. For most rock, metal and progressive players, the Black Fang will tick all the right boxes.Highly recommended!

Great all around guitar picks
Don't be fooled into thinking that because JH uses these that they can only be used for rhythm playing; these are fantastic all-around guitar picks that work great for lead playing, too. They have a little bit of extra stickiness, which is great to keep the picks secure in your hand and the sharp tip gives a nice, focused, sharp attack. If you do a lot of heavy down picking and/or galloping, you will wear the tip down after several hours of use, but you can just resharpen it with a nail file to get more life out of it.

Best pick on the market
Not just a gimmicky signature pick the black fang is a superb well made pick. The edges are smooth and bevelled with no burrs. The point is sharp and hard wearing.Unlike Nylon picks like the Jazz III the black fang will give you a very clear precise and pronounced tone. The coating / finish on the pick makes it easier to keep in position than a standard tortex pick too.Best pick on the market IMO

Great gauge for Metal
Perfect. i usually use 1.0mm, thought id try something lighter, but found 0.6-0.7 a bit flimsy for my liking. These at 0.9 are great. I play more Metal guitar and these are great for it, although only time will tell how they wear. Plectrums are a personal choice/preference based on your style, guitar and music tastes, but i can recommend these if you like Metal/Rock.

One of the best
This is one of The best plecs I was used for shred articulation. The extra point helps to pick notes I was missing with other picks. Recommend.
