Latch on!!
This was a replacement for one of the old school full plastic Igloo latches. I figured since this model is a hybrid with a metal hinge that it will outlast the one it replaced. Very nice construction, design and durability. For just a couple bucks more than a full plastic one, I think it is worth it.

Works with “old” igloo cooler
I was very pleased on the quality of the stainless steel latch. It was a direct replacement latch for my cooler that is at least 35 years old.

So what if it's not a perfect fit... it's so much better than the lock I replaced!
I bought this replacement lock for my Igloo MaxCold 50-Quart Cooler . I don't think this lock is intended as a replacement for my cooler, but it works fine and was no problem installing it (as you can see in the video.) I could have bought the exact lock that came on the cooler, but that one was all plastic with an extremely thin plastic "fold" for a hinge. Why would I want another one of those? It broke off in less than a year after being used by exclusively by a fussy woman (me!) I can only imagine how quickly it would have fallen apart if kids or rugged adults had been using it! This one has a metal hinge and a metal layer over a plastic base - it seems much more resilient than the one that came installed on the cooler. The screw-holes didn't line up perfectly to the one I removed but I just screwed new holes into the plastic... it worked just fine!PS - Writing reviews has become an accidental hobby for me, and it always makes my day to know that people find my reviews helpful (and if not, why.)
