Hopkins Towing Solutions 11143374 Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Kit

This plugged up easily to my 2009 Lexus GX470, so that part was good.The bad -- the mounting bracket is quite flimsy, and would not hold the plug steady enough to push a 7 pin connector into it. I have not yet found a way to securely mount it, and will have to come up with some rigged less-than-elegant solution.On a related issue, when I plugged in, the trailer lights/brakes did not work at all. It turns out that this wiring plug is only part of what is needed to get a GX 470 to tow a trailer. Besides the hitch, which is obvious, you need to make sure that your GX470 was wired from the factory for towing, which includes a transmission oil cooler. There are some needed relays that have to be installed as well. It would have been great if there had been something in the instructions about this, since it is made specifically for these types of Toyota products.

I specifically purchased this as it was stated to fit my year of Toyota 4Runner. The electrical connections fit 100%. The mounting did not fit the original. It took a fair amount of drilling on the included mounting bracket to achieve an acceptable fit. Used it less than a handful of times. Worked.

Sold as a plug-n-play factory replacement, it's really only partially so. The electrical connectors match the factory connectors on my '08 4Runner but the mechanical mounting of the connector isn't even close. The bracket is a simple 90 degree mounting that even if you drilled the holes in the truck's trailer harness connector location or even tried to mount to the metal bumper underneath, the flip open cover would hit the plastic bumper cover. I was not willing to cut the bumper cover to make this work so I returned it.Other possibilities to make this work would be to use some standoffs in the mounting but that would likely make the connector unstable especially since the connector is a much tighter fit than the factory connector, at least for my trailer. You could also fab some sort of adapter to go between the new connector or mounting bracket and the truck's mounting points but I didn't want to take the time and effort for something that was supposed to be plug-n-play.

The plugs and harness fit perfectly. Has 7way and 4way plugs built in, so no need for an adapter. The metal bracket will work but I used zipties and a heavy duty velcro strap to better hide the harness under the hitch receiver.

It plugged right in, had to get creative for mounting it and drill new holes in the mounting brack but it worked out good!

Installed on an 08 4runnner. No issues, plug fit as described in to the original wiring harness. Bought a 2”pipe clamp to attach it to my Reese hitch.
