Pros: very likely genuine Cons: kinda short and added controls add to complexity
I primarily play on PS4 but when Pubg came out on Xbox I dusted off my machine to give it a try. Since I use a mixamp pro tr on the PS4 I don’t need a chat cable but my older 2013 mixamp that I use with Xbone does and I couldn’t find it requiring a purchase. I selected this cable for two reasons, one the conversion between the two standards used in the controller/headset adapter and the mixamp are somewhat unique/rare and I didn’t want to take a risk with a lower quality or fake product. Two, the “talkback cable” is rather specific and would be difficult to counterfeit guaranteeing me a least the expected off the rack quality from turtle beach (whatever that’s worth). As expected I received the cable in a sealed OEM box from Turtle Beach with all types of higher touch/retail niceties like little stickers indicating which end goes where (like a normal person couldn’t figure out the 3.5mm won’t fit in the 2.5mm) that you wouldn’t get from a china knock off. It works perfectly but I didn’t realize how short the cable was going to be. This isn’t a problem for Turtle Beach users but if you plan to use with a mixamp it may be a little on the short side. Also, in retrospect the inclusion of the a chat mixer was totally unnecessary and I’ve never seen a turtle beach headset, wired or not, that didn’t natively come with its own type of chat mixer making the one on this cable totally redundant. For example, if one of the two mixers gets turned down it could take a few minutes to figure out why you can’t hear chat turning you into “that guy”.So while the unique nature of the cable almost guarantees that you’ll get a genuine product it’s that same thing (and to a lesser extent, its overall length) that makes its less attractive vs a knockoff 3.5mm (4 pole) to 2.5mm (3 pole). If I could I’d give it 3.5 but in this world that would just round up so 4 stars it is.

What I don't like about the cable is that although the volume and ...
Update 2020: My wire finally died although I've not used it much the past couple of years. I found another one on eBay for under $9.00. The only real problem I had with this cable when using with an Xbox Elite controller was that you could never tell whether or not your mic was muted and the jack that went into the controller always made a scratchy, annoying sound... which is inexcusable for Turtle Beach.I bought this cable to use with my Turtle Beach X12 Headset and Xbox One Elite controller (I was told this also works with the regular Xbox One controller), and it does. If you have an older XB1 controller without a headset jack, you will also need to buy the adapter (separate item, can be found on the Turtle Beach website) that connects directly to the controller. This cable would then plug into that adapter and also into the inline volume/chat/mic mute controls on the Turtle Beach headset (IF your TB headset has the inline controls). For Turtle Beach headsets similar to the X12, which has the inline volume, chat volume and mic mute function on the wire, this cable replaces the shorter Talkback (removable) cable that normally goes in the jack between the inline volume/chat/mic mute controls and the Xbox controller. You plug one end into the jack where that Talkback cable normally goes and the other into your controller (or adapter, if needed). What I don't like about the cable is that although the volume and mute button on this cable are both inline, there's no light to let you know when you are muted. Also, my X12 headset has Mic Monitor (this would let you know that your mic was on by allowing you to hear yourself in the headset when you talked), but this cable cancels that out. I plan on buying another headset in the future so I'll have one for my 360 and another for my One, so hopefully it won't bother me too much for now. Also, I don't care much for having to add another wire to my headset, but I guess this is the way it has to be done since a regular 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter won't work.

Great way to use your older headset with a new console
It does exactly what it says it will. I have had my X31s for a really long time and was sad when I saw they did not work with my PS4. I really did not want to buy new ones when those work so well. Thankfully these let me still use them with full functionality. I feel the cord might be just a bit too long. I think this is a harder thing to actually get right though since it is more of a personal preference than anything else. It tends to tangle due to the length though. The mute switch takes a nice amount of force which prevents accidental hits from turning off the mic mid sentence. I think every knows it can get a bit frustrating at times when that happens and you have to repeat whatever you had just said. If you play competitive it could be a huge issue. Having the volume dial there too is very nice especially when you get someone who just can't seem to control their volume. The connectors looks solid and give nice feed back when they are correctly inserted. Nothing worse than a loose connection that you can not really tell if it is in or worse you get bad audio quality because of it. My only suggestions to the people who make these would be maybe offer an option where the controls are at the base of the connector that goes into the controller. That would make it much easier to see what I am doing or if I am muted already.

Works with Xbox One
This cable fixed my issues for chat with my XP500 to Xbox One S. Finally!!! High recommend, used to have the old connector spliced with the old turtle Beach chat wire I had when I purchased for Xbox 360.Currently using the Wolverine remote from Razer. Works perfectly. Can confirm it works with the standard wireless remote the system came with.On a side note, if you're having crackling and popping and cut out sound from your headset - that is RF interference with you're XP500signal transmits to the receiver. The 2.4 gigahertz wireless signal from your wifi interferes with it. I turned off my 2.4 on my router since it's the slower signal and my old headset works perfectly. You should be able to change the Chanel. Mine wouldn't which is why I turned it off.

Does the job
Until Sony lift their Bluetooth restriction on the PS4, you're stuck having to use a cable. No big issue. But for reasons I'm still not 100% sure about, you can't mute the Mic on the PX4 headset when using PS4 chat. So here is the solution for now. A cable with a mute and chat volume control. It was fantastically boxed for such an insignificant item. I can't actually bring myself to throw the box away! For me, the mute switch is too fiddly. It's hard to find quickly, and I've found myself inadvertantly adjusting the volume on the other side of the mute button. There's also no light to indicate whether you're muted or not. I suppose this wouldn't be possible seeing as there's no power to light it, but the PX4 is my second Turtle Beach headset, and it follows the excellent (but wired) PX21. You couldn't miss the mute switch on that fella, and the light indicated exactly what was going on. As another review mentioned, there's no clip on it either. Thinking about it, if it did have a clip, I may be able to get more purchase on the mute switch, meaning less chance of changing the volume! But for the money, and given that this is (hopefully) a temporary solution until Sony gets its Bluetooth act together, this is absolutely fine.

x42 and XBox One
Problems with delivery, but cannot fault the product.Packaged securely, contents include a foam windscreen as well as a 1.1m/3.6ft turtlebeach talkback cable. The cable has a 2.5mm end (for the headset) and a 3.5mm end (for the controller/adapter).Straight out of the packaging, the cable feels very durable and good quality. Plugs into headset and controller firmly and securely. I am using mine to connect my turtle beach x42's to my xbox one controller (new controller version with 3.5mm port, as well as elite controller, also with 3.5mm port). Originally tried to use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter for the x42 original cables (which are 2.5mm on both ends) but had various issues. Needless to say I opted to purchase this cable as suggested on the turtlebeach site, and could not be happier.Chat quality via this cable is very clear and does not break up, mic monitoring is fully working and the control unit allows mic to be muted with the flick of a switch, as well as chat volume to be adjusted on the fly. I know some people have reviewed negatively towards the placement of the control unit (being closer to the controller side than the headset) but I honestly prefer this, as I can quickly make changes and then get back to the gaming.Overall, extremely happy with the product. I love my x42's and now I can use them again with my xbox one.

It works, but not particularly well designed.
It works, it does what it says on the tin, but really the design could have been a lot better. The "control module" (for lack of a better description) hangs a few inches from the controller end of the cable, that combined with the right angled jack the ensemble somewhat gets in the way when holding the controller in your lap, I frequently find myself flicking it out of the way, yet when you actually want to use it you're fumbling for it. They would have been better either designing a "puck" type device that attaches to the base of the controller or putting a clip on the back of the module and having it closer to the headset end of the controller so I could clip it to my clothes and always know exactly where it is. The volume wheel is fine but a click in/out mute switch would have been preferable as it is difficult to tell whether the switch is muted and the only indication is tiny text on the side.

Works perfectly
Renewed life for my old PX5 headset, one of the better turtle beach headsets of its time and still up there with the best In my opinion so why get a new set if you can get them to work

Bought for Xbox One!!!
Anyone looking for a chat cable to hook up they’re turtle beach headset straight to the controller, look no further! It says on the box for PS4. I own an Xbox and it works great with the revised controller with the 3.5mm jack. I have the PX5’s and the chat is perfect with this cable.
