Intex Mariner Inflatable Boat Series: Includes Deluxe Boat Oars and High-Output Pump – SuperTough PVC – Wear-Resistant Keel – Removable Fishing Rod Holders – Heavy Duty Grab Handle

For the last 2 years I had been using the main competition boat in this size and price range but I finally tired of how unreliable it was (poor valve design). I am very pleased with this product. Almost all reviews are of the 2008 model (yellow trim) but the 2013 model (red trim) is now shipping. Concerned over possibly quality differences, I called Intex and was assured the change is cosmetic, essentially trim color and design. I have had this boat on lakes ~ 100 acres in size, alone or with another adult maybe 6 times in the month+ that I have owned it and have felt secure in it, even when the wind has kicked up significantly. For the money, everything seems to be very good quality, with the minor exception of the battery bag, which can be seen in the back of the boat in the photo. Marine batteries are simply too heavy for this bag. A concern in previous reviews has had to do with the oars. To me, these appear to be very solid. Possibly the oar locks have been the issue, I am not certain as I have not used them, but the oars are good. The floor space is surprisingly large and the slatted floor does allow standing, for limited movement in the boat, but is not intended to constant standing. I have made and substituted a 1/2" plywood floor, and installed raised, backed, swivel seats for fishing. This makes room for 2 adults and plenty of gear. Online, there is much description of this process, by myself and others. The seat cushions that are provided are comfortable on the bottom, but sit low and have no back support. There is an inflatable keel inside the boat but under the floor, which creates a v-shaped bottom when inflated, permiting better tracking in the water, particularly in a breeze, compared to similar models. This boat runs well when loaded, with a 30lb thrust electric motor, on lakes the size mentioned, but some have used 55 lb thrust motors and even small gas motors, with success. Adequate speed is a personal matter, often dependant on the distance needed to travel, but this boat can take a range of motors. This is not equivalent to a $3000 inflatable boat in quality, but neither is it in price. For this price, the boat meets all my needs and you will likely be impressed.

When I first bought this my wife thought I was nuts. I blew up the boat in my living room to make sure I knew what to do and my kids immediately thought it would be fun to jump on it. Thankfully, I was able to stop them. The boat is easy to blow up. The pump looked like it was going to be a lot of work, but I was amazed at how quickly I could fill it. Everything is numbered. The one mistake I made in the beginning was filling the central tube on the floor after I filled the sections around the boat. The floor was not easy to put in and I had to deflate one side. Lesson learned. Maiden Voyage Day: I went out to the local lake and put down a tarp to fill up the boat. For some reason I thought there would be very few people out, but much to my chagrin, I was wrong. In fact boats were moving in and out of the lake at the ramp and here I was with my 4 person mariner blowing it up on the side. NOBODY said anything, but I sure did get a lot of looks. My boys and I filled the boat up quickly and politely waited for an incoming Jon boat to load up on the trailer. I remembered my earlier experience and put the floor in first, tucking it in as I blew up each compartment. This worked much better. I did make another mistake which I will tell you about now, but will explain later. The boston valves are awesome, but I managed to pull off one of the rings that connect the valve to the boat. I absent-mindedly screwed the valve back on without putting the ring on properly and in essence screwed over the top of it. I was excited and nervous? What do you expect? My wife and 16 year old daughter were highly skeptical that this boat would work and to be honest even with all the reviews I read, I didn't know what to expect. I grew up on row boats and motor boats and the only experience I ever had with inflatables was the pool. Once I filled the boat I slipped it easily into the water on the ramp and stepped in. It is amazingly light in the water and at first it did feel like a "pool" experience. I bought the aluminum oars from intex which I highly recommend and positioned myself on the dock. I don't like the ones that come with the mariner and it is worth the $28 to have piece of mind. I went out first in the water alone, because everyone else was skeptical. The fishermen on the peer were a bit nicer than I expected maybe because they wanted to see me flounder around in the water (pun intended). Anything but that occurred. The boat moved through the water easily. Between the floor and the air compartments, central one included. I easily rowed far out on the water and back within a couple of minutes. *A small not here. Another Jon boat went into the water at the same time and I was rowing back from my exploration and they were still setting up. When I rowed back to the dock, I picked up my wife and daughter and took them out. This was a fair amount of weight, probably around 500 pounds of human in there and wasn't sure how the boat would handle. It handled as easily as I handled myself. Wow! I thought this was cool. So my wife goes from "My husband is nuts" to "Drop off the kids and let's go rowing around the lake." I don't think I have seen her that relaxed in a long time. My 16 year old? Well apart from the argument over the life jacket (there were other teens fishing) she loved it too. The boat was a hit. Sorry, I'm not done. I rowed the ladies back and picked up my two younger boys who waited patiently on the dock. This was the true test as we were going fishing. So I loaded up tackle, the boys, lunch and waved goodbye to my wife and daughter. There was no lack of confidence that the boat would float. I took the air pump with me, because I noticed section two was losing air. This was my fault, because of what I mentioned before. The valve did not seal right, because the ring was caught in the threads where it screws on. I added air and it filled immediately with about three or four pumps of air. We went out fishing in a quiet cove, ate lunch and fished. Each of my boys caught a small panfish and had a blast. I didn't fish, because I wanted to make sure they kept their lines in the water. Since I don't have an anchor I just kept repositioning the boat. After about an hour, we called it quits for the day. I noticed we lost air again on the #2 section and decided to see how the boat held up. The other three compartments and the central tube in the hull kept us afloat without issue. It's not that we lost a lot of air, but the section wasn't firm. I believe if we had blown a hole it would not have been much of an issue. When pulled up to the dock, we unloaded quickly and I packed up the boat into two bags. We were done so quickly, I thought I forgot something. We beat another Jon boat who pulled in and loaded up. It was very easy and the valves let the air out quickly. Pros: Very Sturdy Boat, Love the Floor, Easy to set up and break down, Great boat to get into difficult places Cons: I don't know how this rates as 4 person. I think you can do 3 adults for a fishing trip or excursion comfortably. 4 maybe with kids and the probably have to lean to the side. Intex may want to consider not including the original set of oars as they can break easily. Recommendations: Get the aluminum oars even if you are getting a motor, A small, light anchor kit is helpful for windy days. I also placed a piece of fabric underneath the seat at the front to keep the valve from popping up on the floorboard. I have not gone out with the electric motor yet. I bought the Minn Kota C240. As soon as Virginia returns the registration we are on our way. This is an excellent product for the price and we all had a blast. Enjoy!

Pro's: Solid Craftsmanship, material seems strong and resistant to puncturing. Inflates easily, and pump that comes with it is excellent. The solid floor insert, makes the board sturdy and legal on some waters. A motor can be easily attached with a $25 kit from Amazon. Has a keel which makes navigating waves easier. 5 separate air chambers, nice safety feature. Update:You can legally register this boat in Illinois. Just recently got all my paper work for it. Con's: Bag that comes with the boat is pretty flimsily and is starting to tear. When inflating the keel there is no measurement to let you know when that chamber is full. I just guess but I am surprised there is no mechanism to let you know if the keel is properly inflated since the other four chambers have a measurement device. I am constantly amazed at how amazing this boat is considering I only paid $232. I have taken this boat out ten times so far and never had one issue. I've had up to 4 grown adults on this boat but it is a tight fit. Three adults are pretty decent but two is ideal. I first took this boat out on the lake without a trolling motor with four adults - bad decision. I find rowing this boat rather difficult compared to other aluminum and wood boats I have rowed before. The next trip out I attached a 40 lbs Minn Kota trolling motor and my level of fun and adventure on this boat was vastly improved. I have taken this on several lakes and rivers including the Chicago River. Particularly on the rivers, I am glad I went with a 40 lbs thrust. I have heard others gripping about getting holes and punctures on this boat. I am not sure if they had a bad product and/or operator error to some degree. I pulled up on rocky shores and hit pieces of trees on the water. I have not had any problems thus far. Another person in this forum recommended putting a tarp down on the ground before you inflate and deflate this boat - I highly recommend that. I think that is where people are running into problems because when air is in the chambers of the boat it seems to be pretty impervious to punctures. I am still careful though even when it's inflated. For those wondering it takes me about 20 minutes to unload, inflate this boat, and attach the motor mount. The pump that comes with it works surprisingly well. I have nearly every accessory for this boat and was contemplating buying an automatic pump to inflate this boat. However, the pump works so well I decided not to. I followed another person's advice about inflating this boat. I inflate all the chambers to about 30 percent and then insert the plastic floor and motor mount. I then inflate to the recommend amount. The boat comes with a measuring ruler which lets you know when each chamber is full. When each chamber measures 10mm it is fully inflated. I have done 10 hours of research about boats in this price range. I will save you the hassle. At this price point, you cannot find a better deal on an inflatable boat. I highly recommend getting this boat over the Intex Excursion 5. The Excursion 5 has an appealing price point of approximately $130 and fits up to 5 people. It load capacity is higher as well. However, it does not have a factory solid floor insert. The Intex Mariner has a roll up PVC (I believe) floor insert which makes the boat floor solid. This is not only important for stability and function but on some lakes I have been on this is mandatory. I was stopped by the Forest Preserve Police and luckily I had the solid floor insert because the Officer initially thought I didn't have one. I think he wanted to give me a ticket which I heard is around $120. I live in Cook County, Illinois. Long story short, pay the extra $100 and get this boat. From my research, it is much better quality and also many lakes won't allow an inflatable without a solid floor insert. Hope that helps.

This boat is a great buy. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great little boat. I went camping with a group of friends, and was asked by several campers where did I get it and how much. This boat will hold a lot of stuff. I'm a big guy and my buddy is just as big; we went out and could stand up in it with no problem. It's very stable I never felt like it was too small or unsafe. If I had one complaint it would be the oars, I notice that they didn't stay straight after rowing for a while. Now I understand that they are in two pieces and needs to be put together. I would have like to seen a better set up for the oars. It will not fit in its original bag; well the boat and floor will, but the oars and pump will not. I found that a (50 gal) tote will barely hold the boat and floor. you will need a extra bag to put the oars, pump, and whatever else you have for it. I would recommend to get a anchor for it, so if you need to stop and fish you can. All in all this is one of the best boats for the money. I promise you will not be disappointed in this purchase. Like I always say do your homework on it ,and you will not find a better boat for your money. pro's It's very stable in the water It's has a great hard floor so you can stand up in it. Made from tough material that is quality very durable Well made product Will hold a lot of weight and cargo Easy to row and get where you want easily Con's The boat is heavy I mean It's around 100lb. Wrote this about the Intex 40lb motor, yet it's also about experience with the boat. Don't usually take time to write reviews. It's free advertising for companies and I hate that, yet I'm glad there was some seemingly non-paid reviews & info [all over the web] to help me make a good shot at getting equipment to get the job done. In this case... fun... with some unexpected challenges. We just took a maiden voyage with this motor on an Intex Mariner 4 loaded to 485lbs of 2 people, stuff, an Optima 55 Amp-Hour Deep-Cycle Blue top battery charged on a Schumacher SE-70MA Fully Automatic Deep-Cycle Charger. >> Don't believe it if someone tells you the new battery you just bought is "fully" charged, not only are they "partial charge," special chargers for deep cycle make a BIG difference for battery performance on "every outing" and its life. This info comes from a professional electrical background and people in Forums.<< The trip was 3 miles of winding 30-50ft wide max creek width [out to a lake] with weeds growing to the top in many areas. Did some rowing from the back seat [pushing forward on oars] through the total weed coverage areas on the trip out to discover undergrowth & obstacles and the paddles worked ok. 40 % of the trip out was ok to troll on speed 1 or 2 without sucking up weeds [average 2-4 foot depth]. We found inflating the 5th air compartment or "keel" [adds v-shape to bottom] was giving us trouble getting across the shallow weedy surface so we deflated it and then had a "flat bottom" boat. On the way back we raised the motor/prop so the prop top was spinning above the water line, the bottom half of the propeller in the water. We "chopped" our way back through the weed areas quite well. We surprised the crap out of some Kayakers we met along the way asking how we could possibly get through this creek, they had never seen anything other than a "hand paddle" boat in there. In the clear areas we dropped the prop a few inches below the boat, dialed to 5 [top speed] and were surprised to find the bow lifting and a wake behind us. More than I expected from this motor on the Mariner 4 boat loaded half of max weight [880max] The Mariner 4 & Intex motor hit the spot, very glad we bought them, and the Optima AGM "totally sealed" deep cycle battery. It was well worth the $240.00 Battery to travel 3.5 hours through that kind of load [weeds cause heavy current draw on the battery] and top speed when we weren't in them and a 20% charge still left, according to a digital volt meter. 15 hours of research looks worthwhile now. Hope this can save someone anxiety trying to figure out which of what to get. The Mariner 4 is a great feeling boat too. Their design is hard to believe for the price. Truly happy with the combo. You do have to be aware "THE BATTERY METER ON THE MOTOR IS VERY CONSERVATIVE" designed to make sure you get home before the Battery dies. We made 70% of the return trip with the battery meter on the lowest of its 4 lights, 25% and in the red zone. During that time we ran the motor through 90% of the previous rowing areas, chopping our way across the top of the weeds. And - two people and 6 hours worth of stuff is about all we would want in that boat! Also, even the the Mariner 4 comes with a hand pump we used a Coleman blower for inflation/deflation which worked painlessly. go4h2o

i bought this because i want to fish and i can't afford a bass boat and wanted an alternative to get me where i want on the water. first let me start off by saying there's no way you're going to fit 5 people in this boat as some websites have stated. if for some reason you accomplish this feat, you will not be comfortable in any way.and that is my only complaint with this boat... otherwise it's fantastic. you might be comfortable with 2 adults and 2 small kids with NO gear. just a day in the sun fun, you'll be comfortable. now if you're going fishing, 2 people with gear and that's it. maybe 3 if you purchase chairs and store tackle box and cooler underneath the chairs. but for what it ships with its great. my brother and i have fished on this about 4 times so far. it's great! the first 2 times we took it out we had, 2 fishing rods, my tackle box, a cooler, 2 of the blowup seats, and anchor and line, and 2 vests that we didn't use so it took up room. we were comfortable where we sat. know real need to get up anyways but once you're settled that's about it. the last 2 times we went we had all the gear mentioned plus a trolling motor (minn Kota 40), and a battery (Sears Die Hard Marine battery in Minn Kota Power Center). still very comfortable. my brother mainly sat on the edge of the the raft and was just as comfortable needless to say the last 2 times we went out were better with the trolling motor. its definitely worth it if you're thinking about it.... and yes you have to get it registered pending on where you live. the material is very strong and very comfortable. it has a rock guard all the way around and 2 handles to transport the raft. the flooring is great as well. it takes some getting used too and a bit of a balancing act but you can stand up on it and once you get the hang of it it's not the hard after all. the oars collapse to make it smaller and easier to transport. and yes they are a bit short but i have no problem with them. it's very fun and i will have to recommend you getting Coleman 12-Volt DC QuickPump it's a god send and will have you up and running in no time without the workout. also i've shopped around everywhere. and it's so much cheaper on amazon then anywhere else i've seen. target had it about the same price. but other stores were selling this to around $100-200 more then amazon. so if you're looking this is the place to go.

Definitely a step up from the cheaper Seahawk, Excursion, etc models. Good, thick material, for the price it is definitely worth it. I put a 40lb thrust motor on it and can cruise at a good jog. I use an electric dewalt blower to inflate, then finish off with the manual pump. This raft has potential for customizing. With some stabilizing frame work/plywood floor (floating above the bed would be safer) I think it could take a 4-6hp motor regularly. Purchase Silicon or PVC glue separately for patches they send.

Really like this raft. As others have said, it assembles easy, feels very sturdy and stable. Easy to stand up and walk around on. I can see it lasting a good long time. Certificate of origin is easy to get online if you plan to register it. It is a perfect in between between rugged toy raft, and bomb proof river raft. For the price it's hard to believe it's as well built as it is. Very impressed, especially given the price point. I run a 55lb trolling motor which pushes it right along easily, and straight. The only things I felt could have been improved ( and I would have happily paid more for ) is a better pump, and a more rugged storage bag. I don't see this pump lasting very long, and the bag is practically a single-use item. I threw it away Day One. I did use the pump to deflate the raft once to make it really flat, and I WAS able to get everything back into the original bag, but it wasn't easy. I happen to have a huge rugged water toy storage bag which fits boat, floor, oars etc. The oars are....Meh.... but they are just a backup for when the battery dies so they are fine. Again...for the price, I'm impressed.

5 stars for the product! Excellent service from the seller regarding delivery (with updates sent by sms). The boat arrived in very good condition. It has a strong bag and as the seller recommends, 35kg are not to be lifted by just 1 person. Just be careful of the zip when the bag is open and you try to fit the boat in the bag. I have cracked one end of the zip already. The boat is very thick and I have used it to go fishing in the sea. The hooks don't make damage (unless the are stuck in some corners or are very big). The floor (that makes more than half of the weight) is made of hard plastic slates which I found a bit too sharp on the edges. Nothing major that couldn't be adjusted with a bit of duck tape (maybe not necessary but I'm fussy to make sure no damage is made). The main 4 air chambers valves, are very good quality made of 2 bit: top bit to inflate and doesn't let air out that screws on bottom bit, and the bottom bit which is just a cap that would wide open the hole. Not even need to deflate the boat. Then there are all the accessories: oars that don't make rust because are made of alluminium amd plastic; manual air pump which is big enough to inflate the whole thing in about 15 to 20 minutes; puncture kit and 10cm ruler that is to be used to measure each quarter of the boat to make sure is not over/under inflated. There is also a couple of pouches, a bigger at the back for the battery and a smaller on one side for gears which can be useful. The only thing that could be improved, is the 5th valve which inflates the bottom of the boat: it's a basic valve like the one that you find on inflatable cushion but bigger and opens easily and loses air. As the sellers says in the description though this IS the choice for an inflatable boat. I hope this will help with your choice.

We got this boat on sale, it was delivered quickly and in perfect shape, no scratches or holes. We've just spent a great weekend tooling around the lake. We paired it with an index motor mount, a 12v 50ah lithium Ampere battery and a Newport motor. All the equipment was easy to set up for my son and I and neither of us are technically inclined. We bought an electric pump but ended up using the enclosed pump as we wanted to inflate it closer to the lake and didn't have a nearby outlet. It took my son less than 10 minutes to get it fully inflated. It's an incredibly comfortable boat, as it's a big air mattress. It also feels very stable. I stood up in it to change seats with my son at one point and it didn't feel tippy at all. It was a comfortable weight for two of us to get in and out of the water but I couldn't manage it alone. I'm a 60+ woman. Probably some people could manage it alone. The boat deflated isn't heavy, it's the solid flooring that gives it heft. Our lake doesn't get really big waves but we took it out on a rough day and a calm day. Both were fine.. The person in the front got a little splashed on the rough day. I would wholeheartedly recommend this boat.

C'est un super bateau, après premier test réussi :gonflable en pas longtemps , lourd car la qualité est au rdv avc un fond rigide ou on réussi à se tenir debout sur l'eau facilement quand à la qualité du plastique du boudin elle a l'aire bien résistante avc un renforcement pour les fortement sur tous le tour ainsi que dessous et au milieu pour bien fendre la vague, merci a intex et Amazon pour une livraison dans les temp malgré la période difficile

Muy buena lancha, recomiendo usarla exclusivamente con motor troleador y batería Lipo4 (bajo peso). Con motor gasolina, el Mercury 3.3hp, no funciona muy bien, requieres hacerle modificación al espejo.
